Lack of up to date information

It seems odd to me that in the last six or seven months there seems to be little if any reliable postings on where we stand or what we reasonably can expect in the next two months. All there seems to be is government propaganda. Has anyone heard what Yardeni, Yourdon, or Cowles have said lately on the state of Y2K? The field seems to have been left wide open for the DGI's. Have we come far enough along to stop worrying or is everyone hunkering down?

The primary attitude among the most visible of the prognosticators is "We have already done as much teaching, cajoling and threatening as we can. Those that will prepare have done so. Those that will not will not. (No matter what we say or do)".

This is basically what Ed Yourdon posted, Gary North posted, Mike Adams posted etc. This attitude certainly makes sense to me. I know that I am keeping a low profile regarding my DGI neighbors and a close contact with my GI neighbors. Not that I am afraid of drawing attention to myself....I'm just flat tired of trying to convince people that won't consider the possibilities. They wish it to be written in stone that this or that will happen before they say "Gee, I guess we better....".

I think that most of the individuals I know that have prepared in some way for this event feel the same way. We will most likely look out for each other and include some of the DGI if it gets bad. (But not all..some do not deserve help secondary to the resistence they put up to OUR preps). Kids and the elderly will not suffer going without if I am able to help. (Ben Raines strikes again).

I read the article in today's NYTimes. I'm not saying it was informative, but if I were a DGI and could read the words and understand, I would be sore amazed. What the hell is going on here I would think upon reading about the preparations being made in NYC. It's plain freaky.

As a GI, I'm glad NY is doing something.

For Ed Yourdon's latest thoughts you might check his website Ed's website

From Ed on November 18, 1999...

"As of today, we're only 43 days away from the Big Rollover, and for those who keep emailing me to see if my opinion has changed because of some great cosmic insight in the past 24 hours, the answer is "no"; it's the same as it was back on February 7th, when I wrote "My Y2K Outlook: A Year of Disruptions, a Decade of Depression", and on September 7th, when I wrote "The Y2K End Game."

If you're unfamiliar with the essays Ed references here, full copies are also available on his website.

Frodo,

Don't expect to hear too much this close to Mordor. Some are going mad looking into the crsytal Palidin of the internet, Sauron continues to decieve in the East. Rumors of Ents on the move. In any event you'll be rafting right into the heart of it in a few weeks. Take heart, May your toe hairs grow long and pipe be full. God Bless
