I may sound like a real dummy here.... but would someone PULEEZ tell me the meaning of the acronyms: GI, DGI, BITR.....oh hell! Please do a short glossary of "ALL" of the Y2K acronyms that are generally used by you folks and PLEASE realize that although you all share a certain kinship, your feelings and understandins of the Y2K prob, your use of these nicknames and shortcuts only serve to keep newbies and latecomers in the dark as to your conversations, thusly sending them elsewhere from what they/ I perceive to be a club-type atmosphere. If you would like others to understand your thinking, you must drop, or at least explain the terminology. If I am perceived to be an outsider, it is because that is just how I feel.....sorry folks.......Pat

GI = Get it, as in I get it! (I understand that computer systems can cause errors due to faulty computer code).

compared to:

DGI = Don't get it (I am so dumb or clueless that for some reason I cannot understand that computers use a "language" called code and if the code is incorrect (like in PERFECT!) this code will cause errors, that in turn can present poor bank records, power outages, train wrecks and grocery store closings due to the fact that their computer controlled cash registers don't frickin work properly.

DWGI = Don't Wanna Get It = I have enough common sense to understand that computers are machines that are sensitive to proper programming, but I DO NOT WISH TO THINK ABOUT OR FACE THE PROBABLE REALITY THAT MY LIFE WILL BE IN TOTAL DANGER IF I IGNORE THE PROBLEM

BITR = Bump In The Road; A term used by both propagandists who want you to keep your money in the bank, food on the shelves and your head in the ground - it is also used by "Pollies" who want life to continue (just the same) in the silly and stupid way that we all live on this planet at the moment - so after a glitch or two (bump in road) life will tra la la along until we polute every inch of the planet.

Polly = One who is a Pollyanna - life is a bowl of cherries and talking or even thinking about anyting negative (to the happy life we live) is poppycock.

Question to Pat? Where have you been? For some reason that 2000 is 800 hours away have anything to do with you just looking into a FRICKEN SERIOUS PROBLEM that has been talked to death for the past two years!?

We are sadists on this forum - get six months worth of preps (know what that is?) get the hell out of any town over 15,000 and forget learning these terms - you are screwed and wasting your precious time learning anything here at this juncture.

Thanx!.....I'm definitely a GI, and have been for quite a while. I appreciate the responses. I am a veteran web surfer, consequently I recognised most of the web shorthand. It was just the Y2K stuff that had me stumped. I am a single/ divorced male, who takes this trip very seriously. The biggest bummer of all is the fact that everyone I know is blowing me off as a loon. This tends to make my preparation AND anything I say subject to much derision. I am preparing nonetheless to help my large family of DGI's and DWGI's to hopefully get by....if that is even possible. It sux to be doing this alone, but alas, so goes shtuff! Thanx Again
