Gas Mask Filters: Need Source

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

I'd like to purchase brand-new, 40 mm, NBC gas mask replacement filters. I'm aware of gasmasks.com. Do you know of other sources that may have lower prices?

Thanks very much for your help.

Regards,

Tom

I bought Israeli 40mm C-2 spec NBC filters (2 dozen) from Sportsman's Guide (www.sportsmansguide.com). At the time they were $28/dozen in their "New Customer" catalog. Last price I saw was $30. I've been threatening to saw one of these in half but haven't gotten around to it. I'm pretty certain these meet the C-2 spec and are combo HEPA and charcoal units (I called customer service and got the skinny...they said all the right things). I like the packaging; a rubber gasket and metal cap on the outlet and a tight rubber plug on the intake. Seems good to me.

Various surplus outfits have these for $5-$8 per. The U.S. C-2A filters can cost as much as $40 per. Not good if you have to buy your own and use a lot of filters (they can last 2 years or 15 minutes dependant on use). Good luck.

P.S. - Sportsman's guide has a pack of 10 pair NBC gloves (size med. only) with cotton liners for around $7. Also MOPP chem suits.
