Just went to the site, and listened to the RealPlayer preview. Further details are as follows:

Jim Lord will also be in the studio. Sounds as if this is the station that ORIGINALLY broke the story that GN picked up on. Says that CNN, AP and others will be "covering" or "monitoring" this broadcast! WONDER HOW THEY WILL spin IT ON THE CLINTOON NEWS (NOT) NETWORK?

Bet they are already digging up dirt on the MR.CEO,ready to dismiss him as a disgruntled, or mentally unstable kook, who was caught with an intern under a desk in the Oral...OOPS that's the Prez's c.v.! We apologize for the mix-up.

-- profit of doom (doom@helltopay.ca), November 25, 1999.

Will this also be on the radio(am/fm) where everyone can listen to it?If so,how can we find the station in our area? If not, would someone please post what was discussed.

-- Maggie (aaa@aaa.com), November 25, 1999.

Thanks very much for the heads up, Ryker!

Know what *we'll* be talking about next Tuesday night, eh? :-)

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), November 25, 1999.

This is to confirm that I will participate in the interview of Mr CEO Wednesday Dec 1 at 2PM eastern time.

Neither of us will be in studio however. None of the show's personnel are aware of his identity. I do know Mr CEO personally, however and can vouch for his identity as well his credentials. Victor Porlier, another long-time Westergaard columnist has also vouched for Mr CEO's authenticity.

I am responsible for arranging his appearance on the program under the condition that his identify and that of his company be protected. I can also reveal that I am "Friend #1" referred to in Will Reishman's earlier email which ended up posted on Gary North's site.

Mr. CEO is a courageous individual who is taking a significant risk by making a live appearance. He is doing so out of his deep concern for others.

Jim Lord

-- Jim Lord (JimLordY2K@aol.com), November 26, 1999.

This should turn the heat up a few hundred degrees. Stay tuned.

Thank you once again for your efforts, Mr. Lord.

-- Steve (hartsman@ticon.net), November 26, 1999.

---thanks, Jim. I posted earlier a rather emotional post both lambasting non whistle blowers while asking FOR whistleblowers. I think this should have been done LONG ago by thousands and thousands of techs, engineers and programmers. It could have made a difference, even a year ago. Now, I'm afraid, if it gets any press, we'll have the fedgov do something really, really stupid to distract attention and cover their malfeasance of duty, which the spin is. I believe the "official spin" is actually criminal, and indictable, and it's certainly reprehensible. Looking forward to the show. I don't think any single major media outlet will report it, though, but it's certainly worth a shot, isn't it?

Okay, I went to the URL of Gary North's comments on this issue, and have a great deal of trouble with the following:

>>Why hasnt Mr. CEO come forward with his information? If he is a man of character and compassion (which both of my friends have assured me is very much the case), why doesnt he find a way to get the countrys attention. Theres a simple explanation. No question that Mr. CEO would not make such a statement unless he had ample proof, and because of the unique position of his company, these claims could be easily documented. However, theres one hitch - confidential agreements. It is likely that the service contracts between Mr. CEOs company and each utility have confidentiality clauses that prohibit his sharing information with any unauthorized persons. My guess is that Mr. CEO has anguished about whether to make this information public, but in the end decided that his integrity did not permit him to violate the contractual obligations to his clients. <<

Uhhh, sorry, Mr. North, Mr. Lord and Mr. CEO, but unless y'all come forward and give full details as to which companies are going to fail, and at which percentage rate, and how many LIVES are going to be affected, then y'all are totally responsible for the loss of any such lives come Y2K.

And be damned with your service contracts with their "confidentiality clauses." Which is more important at this point, your honoring such a contract or saving even one life on 1/1/2000?

-- Beached Whale (beached_whale@hotmail.com), November 26, 1999.

People need to take responsibility for themselves and PREPARE. That is what this Forum is all about -- people with Y2K concerns helping each other prepare.

Don't waste energy hoping .gov .mil .biz .whistleblowers anonymous / outty will do it for you in any way. Just do it yourself and prepare.

-- from Nike land ;^) (allaha@earthlink.net), November 26, 1999.

Several months ago a prominent journalist set up a defense fund for the use of Y2K whistleblowers. At the time I made a substantial pledge to this fund, should it be needed. To date, not a single whistleblower has stepped forward. Should anyone actually have the guts to do so, the money is in the account.

Computer Pro, any reason you can't provide *DETAILS*, now??

-- Ray (ray@totacc.com), November 26, 1999.

I have to go with Beached Whale on this one. No names? This is about as useful as that letter that started this. Sorry boys and girls, but unless there is VERIFIABLE info int he broadcast, it is useless. (You know, verifiable, like what you keep asking for about companies who claim to be done. What, that standard doesn't apply to whistleblowers also?)

-- b (b@b.b), November 26, 1999.

Beached WHale, You have Jim Lords name and that makes no difference to your reasoning. I can tell you now that even if you had all the names and company documents of those involved it would make no difference. Your reaction reminds me of this 2000 year old writing "your brothers have Moses and the prophets to listen to. If they don't believe them, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead and tells them.

-- Earl (Ejrobill@pcpostal.com), November 26, 1999.

Earl;

Ummmm, I don't care who Mr. CEO is; I care who and where the utility companies are, and which of my relatives may die because of no power in the normally coldest part of the year. To quote myself:

"Uhhh, sorry, Mr. North, Mr. Lord and Mr. CEO, but unless y'all come forward and give full details as to which companies are going to fail, and at which percentage rate, and how many LIVES are going to be affected, then y'all are totally responsible for the loss of any such lives come Y2K.

Read, re-read and read it again, so you get it right before jumping in the water.

Will this be archived on m2ktalk.com? The opinions remind me of a Buddhist story. The Buddha told his followers of a man who had been shot with a poisoned arrow. But when someone started to take the arrow out, the wounded man stopped him and said, First I want to know who shot the arrow. I want to know was caste he was. I want to know.... And so forth.

The Buddha was illustrating hairsplitting over theology at the expense of one's life.

Faced with Mr CEO's guesstimate, I'd say we've all got the poisoned arrow in us. I feel fully confident (sic) that PG&E is going to crash. If Mr. CEO affirmed that, and I called my mother and sister the next day to tell them to prepare for a one month blackout or move somewhere safer, and Mr CEO had backed up the dire prediction, would they move?

Not a chance. They don't even know they've been shot with the arrow. What I see in January are many many faces blubbery with tears. Too bad, too bad.

PS. Calif. State Sen. John Vasconcellos forwarded on to me an email from Marc Gimbrere, President of Millennial Goods. MG writes, "A well respected friend of ours...got the inside skivvy from PG&E, that two top contingency planners quite their jobs some three months ago because they knew the job was just impossible to deal with in time. Their assessment: California will experience one month of blackouts and rolling brownouts, and the power system in the state will take another two years to fix."

I emailed and phoned --left msg-- MG for clarification and detail yesterday.

If you haven't read my essay on PG&E here's the link. Why I think MG's skinny was true.

I am a bit confused about what software is required to listen to this broadcast, as I went over to the site and Microsuck's audio program wasn't able to open it. What is required?

Some beached whales should be left alone...

-- dinosaur (dinosaur@williams-net.com), November 30, 1999.

it wont make much difference if you believe mr. ceo or not-in about 30 days you will find out (the hard way) if he is correct.

-- nick stirn (papanick61@hotmail.com), November 30, 1999.

While all concerned are waiting for the "radio broadcast" to hear what Mr. CEO has to say, here is an interesting link that I came across today. http://www.iaj.or.jp/y2ktf/r01e.html This talks about "things" that happen everyday in "the the belly of the beast", known as the internet. The subject matter gets right down to the bit patterns of different kinds of protocols that are needed to make the internet what it is today,... soon to be gone in 29 days. You could not fix this problem in 10 solid years of round the clock effort. The last sentence is only my opinion of course. I do not consider my self an expert on computers, as I am constantly finding out new things about them that I never knew before. Constantly find out new things about computers.... 7 days a week,... 12 to 14 hours a day,...365 days a year,... since I built my first one in 1958. To be fair, it was only a vaccuum tube job, and it only had about 25 bytes of vaccuum tube memory (6AL5's), the ALU was only 4 bits wide and there were no I/O ports. I did have a monitor, sort of,.. actually it just a PACO oscilloscope that I built from a kit. Anyhow, I think the world is in trouble. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, everybody is worried about who said what. The thing is, computers don't know about humans. Computers only know about electrons and how their dance through the circuits is decoded. By the way, can anyone out there tell me where I can get a KA7042P ? I need it to fix a FCC I.D. CSYSC- 528UXH color monitor. I only need one, and do not have any mfg. info for the part.

-- Art Soukup (asoukup@mscomputers.net), December 01, 1999.

can someone transcript and post this interview??

I HATE it when I have to go to work as something like this starts.

Chuck

-- Chuck, a night driver (rienzoo@en.com), December 01, 1999.

Anyone else having trouble connecting to m2ktalk.com this morning? I got into the site about an hour ago but have hit firewall errors on every attempt after that. The interview's not scheduled for several hours but either their server is overloaded or something has happened to take their site down. Brian.

-- Brian Martin (brian_martin@administaff.com), December 01, 1999.

I have not been able to get into that site today either. I hope it opens up soon. May be overloaded!

Beached Whale sounds like one I'm afraid. You want to know specific companies, what percentage failure, and how many people will be affected? An absurd request. Here is some tainted meat. You are going to eat it unless I can tell you specifically what microbes are in it, how many of them, how long you will be sick, and what the symptoms will be. Come on, man, get real! I don't have to know all that stuff. I can tell by the stink that I shouldn't eat it!

-- IMREADYRU (paladin456999@yahoo.com), December 01, 1999.

Brian - I can't even get connected to it. Says server is down.

-- marsh (armstrng@sisqtel.net), December 01, 1999.

WHAT IS UP? No site available, No guest speaker, No excuse posted, I am very disappointed - what more needs to be said except an explanation.

-- Very Disappointed (isitjusthype@foolus.com), December 01, 1999.

Well....

This may be yet another example of the vital requirement for testing, especially load. That poor ol' server likely got hammered by a volume of hits it had never, ever seen and just said, "G'night!". Stand by while the techs scramble to "FOF" this non-mission-critical system.

-- Mac (sneak@lurk.hid), December 01, 1999.

Is Y2K News Radio AM or FM, and what number on the dial? Please respond ASAP since the interview will occur in less than two hours.

TIA, Ed

-- Edward H. Greenberg (green12@ca.freei.net), December 01, 1999.

Repeat. Server down or what?

-- Charles Sutton (ragna@techemail.com), December 01, 1999.

I'm betting that this is no accident.

-- (brett@miklos.org), December 01, 1999.

It is no coincidence this problem is happening. I can PING the M2KTALK.COM site and their ISP is;

Domain Name: M2KTALK.COM Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC. Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com Referral URL: www.networksolutions.com Name Server: NS.MISPRODUCTIONS.COM Name Server: NS2.MISPRODUCTIONS.COM

If the server was overlaoded, why is the ISP up?

-- MikeGyver (cautious@somewhere.com), December 01, 1999.

If you were the government, would you allow Mr. CEO or Jim Lord to air information that could panic a nation?

I'll bet the ISP is getting pressured.

Pray for Truth...

-- Duh (BuckleUp@getready.com), December 01, 1999.

beached whale- IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE PLANS BY NOW WITH ALL THE OTHER INFO MADE AVAILABLE TO YOU-WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES KNOWING THE IDENTITY OF MR.CEO MAKE TO YOU? YOU HAVE 30 DAYS. YOU ARE RESPONCIBLE FOR YOUR SELF AND YOUR FAMILY. GARY NORTH HASE PROVIDED OVER 6000 ARTICLES ON HIS WEB SITE. I HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE Y2K PROBLEM SINCE NOVEMBER OF 96. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES AND NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOUR SELF FOR THE POSSIBLE DANGERS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU ARE LIKE MOST PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, BLAME SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE BAD SPOT YOU ARE IN. HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? WERE YOU WAITING FOR THE PERFECT PIECE OF EVIDENCE BEFORE YOU WOULD START TO PREPARE! YOU HAVE 30 DAYS- GOOD LUCK

-- (TEN4434@UNIDIAL.COM), December 01, 1999.

Site is back up....

-- C (c@c.com), December 01, 1999.

8 minutes to show time and their server is not responding. Ping times out tracert dies someplace on the west coast. I was receiving a feed until they went to commercial at 1:30 est. Never got a commercial only music.

-- Mike W. (mikewojcik@gbso.net), December 01, 1999.

Just tried to get in,

Msg reads:

"The server returned an invalid or unrecognized response"

Anyone able to get in????

-- Duke 1983 (Duke1983@AOL.com), December 01, 1999.

I got in for a few minutes at 2:21 EST then it went down again. I can hit their site with a ping now but, it must be some software glitch. Mike

-- Mike W. (mikewojcik@gbso.net), December 01, 1999.

Their site is dead...

Don't think ya'll will here much from this. Wait for GNorth to post transcript.

-- Dennis (geekoid@msnbc.com), December 01, 1999.

At about 1:15 I was able to connect to the talk show. Heard Mr. Lord discussing the Right of the individuals in our country to be truthfully informed on the status of the Y2k problem. "The Government Serves Us." As Mr. CEO began to respond, the connection was lost/ended/cut. Can't get it back.

-- fair ey (fairey_@excite.com), December 01, 1999.

so...did the interview go or not?!?!? wheres a xscript?

-- keith (wind@aol.com), December 01, 1999.

I think the guy who worked over Whale had it exactly right. You can be carted off to a prison on a conviction based on the "preponderance of evidence." From my take on the language on this thread, everybody is a tech.

When you run a computer, you are experiencing the results of a series of events which are both invisible and largely unmeasurable. The movement of atoms or magnetic domains down pathways must be assumed because nothing else works. It happens before you can measure it. And if you could measure it, the very act of detecting it would alter it. Scopes display history. So, as a techie, whether software, firmware, or hardware, you perforce must operate on a keen sense of faith leading to measurable results.

The moral to this story is, that at some point in your decision process you must invoke the infamous Leninism: "It is now time to shoot the engineers and start production."

Either you trust the veracity of those reporting facts learned from those with hands-on knowledge- actual embedded chip engineers, and management types like Mr.CEO as vouched for by men of known character, or you don't. If you don't, then you don't; and you dither. Our Great White Father, Billy the Sociopath, is infamous for his inability to close down discussion and go into action. His co-President's main function was to yank the leash and "shoot the engineers to start production." Apparently she has delegated that authority to someone else in the Oral Office. Didn't mean to get into politics, medicine and psychobabble.

Bottom line: if Bruce Beach says guys told him that their experience with embedded chips in their laboratory oil refinery in Oklahoma was running 5% failure (5 out of 100; 50 out of a thousand; 500 out of 10,000; 50,000 out of a million), then that lab is a goner. If that lab is typical of refineries in the real world, steam power is going to enjoy a terrifc revival. (No kidding about that. I know a guy in Missouri who is building steam powered vehicles that run on twigs. I've got the blueprints and his video showing the whole process.) All you have to do is believe that Beach is not making up the story himself, but reporting it accurately. If Mr. CEO is a man of character, he damned well better not breach his confidentiality contracts. He would lose all credibility upon such a breach.

I am new on this entire forum. Didn't have time for it; didn't think I had anything much to contribute to a series of techies talking techie to themselves. Not being a programmer, but was a hardware designer, producer and marketer, I felt that this series of threads had little to learn from me. Wrong. There are a lot immature fools posturing with what they know in their very narrow world offering wisdom based on absolutely nothing. You who are in this pretty large class, know exactly what I mean. What a pity.

Kudos to Jim Lord, Bruce Beach, Mr. CEO of High Integrity, and others including especially Gary North with his incredible website. One last shot at "responsibility for sounding the clarion!!" This goes to philosophy- not an easy call. You do not, ipso facto, have any responsibility to do anything for anybody anywhere anytime unless you have been awarded that responsibility and have voluntarily accepted it. Various religious credos hold otherwise-and for those subscribing to those credos, my denial statement is inoperative. But, such a person feeling compelled to blow the whistle, has no authority to compell others. I hope all this makes sense to at least one person on this thread. Respectfully posted to y'all, Burton Linne in Virginia.

-- Burton Linne (braintherapy@braintherapy.com), December 01, 1999.

Burton, I did not wish to work over beached whale. I get tired of people not accepting responcibility for there own and family's safety. The one thing that drives me crazy is how everyone is an expert that nothing will happen with y2k. I prey that nothing will. But- look at the evidence! I have talked to friends and family for 3 years now on this subject. No one wanted to help but by golly if it gets bad they all say they know where to come. Well they don't because they don't khow where I will be. And then when this thing gets cranked up next year they will blame everyone else for the situation they are in. Thank God for people like Gary North. Without remnant review and his website there would be more people like the Whale! GOD BLESS YOU, B.T.
