*CIO: Chief Information Officer

*Doomer: believes Y2K computer bug will cause severe economic and/or societal disruption and has prepared accordingly. Usually smart, quite attractive and kind to children and animals.

*DGI: Don't/doesn't get it (person who doesn't believe potential Y2K disruptions are possible)

*DWGI: Don't want to get it

*Downwinder: someone who lives downwind from a nuclear power plant or nuclear testing site.

*Flame: an angry reply.

*FUBAR: fouled up beyond all repair or recognition

*GI: Gets it (person who understands that y2k could cause serious disruptions)

*IEEE: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

*Infomagic: Wrote a series of articles that Y2K would cause society to devolve into chaos.

*JAE: Jo Anne Effect.

*JQP or J6P or JQ6P: Respectively, Joe Q. Public, Joe Six Pack or Joe Q. 6-Pack. Average person. Man/woman on the street.

*JIT: Just in time. Inventory management theory that calls for just in time delivery of needed goods.

*Koskinen (also Kosky, Ko-skin-em) - John Koskinen, the government's Y2K "czar"

*LOL: Laughing out loud

*Mike Adams: reporter who maintains www.y2knewswire.com website.

*.mils: Web postings and emails originating from military installations

*NWO: New world order

*NYSE: New York Stock Exchange

*OT: Off topic.

*Polly: believes that Y2K computer bug will cause minimal disruptions to economy/society.

*Preps: Y2K preparations

*RGI: Recently 'got it'.

*ROTFLMAO: rolling on the floor laughing my a** off.

*Scary Gary: Gary North. Maintains extensive, doomer (see above) web site for Y2K information www.garynorth.com

*SYSOP: System Operator (in charge of administrative duties of a forum or chat room)

*Tinfoil or Tin Hat: Somewhat loony or crazy.

*TPTB: The powers that be. Refers to any powerful authority/agency. Often refers to government agencies, the President, the Federal Reserve or SYSOPS (see above).

*TEOTWAWKI: The end of the world as we know it

*Troll: A person who posts to disrupt, distract, incite, or insult, with no attempt to further serious or useful discussion of the topic at hand.
