apology to Brian Imager

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Sorry Brian for slagging you. I've been through a lot, actually my wife and I, preparing. Like many here, we've sacrificed and busted our butts trying to get ready, so to be called a troll is for me, almost contemptuous.

Regarding BC Hydro, I do remember reading that they tested 250,000 items for date sensitivity, finding that 8000 devices were sensitive, and 220 needed to be replaced. So semantically, there's not really much difference. Every item has to be tested. Which is why I hope they got it right, I hope the manufacturer's specs are correct etc etc...Take it easy, fellow Canuck...

Cool. I was going to "go off" on you after reading your other thread. Glad to see this. You're a good man samIam.

Everyone is a little wound-up now, so I understand how you feel. Save your fight for the real trolls.

Happy Thanksgiving!

samIam,

We can all understand how emotions can run high sometimes. Your apology certainly shows your heart is in the right place. Well done.

Sincerely, Stan Faryna

samIam

Good to see we have squared this up in a Canadian like manner. "If" you are in BC you should know that this Province was (is) leaders in Y2K efforts, having online information long before most institutions. At one time BC was the only .gov entity that had a web site and info on the bug that wasn't a country (and the brits, canadian gov and us gov were about it). I have alot of hope that BC will make it through "safely".

Mind you this Telus merger with BC Tell has me really leary they are changing the billing format as we speak. Mergers a few months before Y2K is something that is pretty stupid IMHO. We didn't even get our long distance calls indexed on the last bill. Wierd.

Anyways samIam hopefully you and your family will have a safe rollover and remember,

Keep your liners dry.

(PS I lived in the NWT and Yukon for years)
