Tax bills late - Y2K problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just thought someone might be interested... It just occurred to me that property taxes are usually due Dec.1 but that I hadn't received a bill yet. I called the tax collector in my small New Hampshire town to ask. She said that they *hope* to get them out in another week or so and that we will have 30 days to pay from the mailing date. I asked why, is it because all of the debate going on at the state level about how to fund education (another story). She said, and I quote, "Partly, but it is mostly because we got a new 2000 compliant system and it is having problems. I wish we could just go back to the old one." Interesting! At least I get to hold on to my tax money a little longer.

That's interesting. I have not recieved my bill yet either. I live in Madison, Tn. I'll have to call them to find out what's going on.

Thanks!

Well! I wish I had been so fortunate! Small rural town tax office, no computer, just "ole fashioned" ledger cards. Dang the luck!
