Hey Craig!

In various threads re: public transit and funding, you have used the argument about "demographics"; That public transit should "rot on the vine" (thankyou Mr. Newt), because of reduced ridership.

Anyhoo, yesterday (11/23) I happened upon a particularly inciteful monologue by one Rush Limbaugh. In comparing the two political parties, GOP & Dems, and discrediting the latter, the great "Maja Rushi" made the following statement:

"The Republicans are the party based on IDEAS, the Democrats are a party based on DEMOGRAPHICS"

So, is it "still the DEMOGRAPHICS" stupid?

I don't listen to Mr. Limbaugh personally. I understand he claims to be an entertainer, not a philosopher or political leader. Don't know in what context he was referring to demographics either. But with respect to the issues where I have used it, demographics certainly explains why transit continues to be less and less a factor in American life, why it is losing market share pretty much everywhere, and losing absolute numbers in most markets. If you are looking to convince me otherwise, you probably need a better argument than that a talk radio host doesn't like the Democratic party.

Oops! Almost forgot.

IT'S STILL THE DEMOGRAPHICS, STUPID!

GEE, a reverse appeal to authority. And an authority that Sal apparently doesn't think much of (or Craig either for that matter) at that.

I haven't seen anything that pitiful since my logic 101 instructor gave us the handout of "deadly sins of logical argument" on the first hour of class.

Come on SAL, is this the BEST you've got?
