Would somebody or several sombodies please tell what was said on the show, the best of their recollection?

No Troll: Please, say specifically why you say it is embarassing.

--she's doing OK. the show is allright, geez, mucho bettero than OMIGAWDITZY2KPANICMOVIENITE was

zoggus bein fairus

-- zog (zzoggy@yahoo.com), November 23, 1999.

Paula Gordon was NOT embarassing. She is a proactive, determined woman who is NOT passing herself off as an expert. She has called on government to do its job, which it has not done. She continues to call on government to do something to ameliorate the probable catastophic results of the CDC.

-- Mara (MaraWayne@aol.com), November 23, 1999.

There were very few people there so questions where alittle sparse. Some of the info given was very good. Tad boring in spots.

-- More Dinty Moore (dac@ccrtc.com), November 23, 1999.

Paula's doing great, especially in the unstructured question session. The panel has basically agreed that there will be global failures, and she's pushing the congressional rep? to fess up on the US's need to prepare response units, or something of the sort. She pushed on the US not preparing john Q for possible nuclear fallout, at least with Potassium iodide/date. She pushed on the feds not helping big cities prepare. she turned "bull dog" in the end, and wouldn't let go, which I thought was good.

-- Hokie (newportnews@va.com), November 23, 1999.

She did seem a bit nervous. So what!! She was on a time limit, trying to get people to pay attention to a very serious subject, that has been white washed for to long. I'm sure she was holding back you could se that a couple of times thought she was really going to let loose a couple of time.. But if she had done that she would have been classed as one of the "Ranting Doom and Gloom Group" Paula You Go Girl great job......

-- Marli (can'tget@it.duh), November 23, 1999.

Could "no troll" be the same person that has proof that Paula Gordon is a fraud? She was in the chat room boasting that she has the goods on Paula. A couple of us tried to get her to give the proof but she refused, so she is a troll and a polly, there's no difference.

-- Anon650 (Anon650@Anon650.xcom), November 23, 1999.

no troll: Paula did not come across well because she didn't use lies, impassioned rhetoric and slanted facts that seem to be the fashion of more popular politicians today. Granted, Paula is not a William Jennings Bryan but neither is she shrinking violet. She made her points and stuck by them. My fear is that a majority of the great unwashed simply do not have the mental capacity to filter out the delivery and concentrate on the message. Paula, thanks, from those of us who want Americans to understand but have no forum like yours to do so.

-- Neil G.Lewis (pnglewis1@yahoo.com), November 23, 1999.

which causes one to ask further :

what the hell is going on here!!!???

if ever one wanted to purposefully kill something, this [CSPAN event et al] might be one helluva way to do it...

I've had inklings for some time now, that there were 'wolves among the sheep';

without becoming accusitory nor providing any more conjecture, I am convinced that must be the case;

those who know me know I'm not a troll, nor a polly, - just a 'skeptical inquirer' ;

but I surely think there are some 'other actions, motives, and events' occurring in this whole Y2K scenario that some of us - like ME - are not fully enlightened about.

what might be those actions, motives, etc? I am in no position to suggest.

...makes yuh wunder...huh?

-- Perry Arnett (pjarnett@pdqnet.net), November 23, 1999.

Paula embarassing?

I think not.

The lady deserves a big round of applause for having the courage (and brains) to think beyond the PR spin, and discover the facts for herself. The facts DO point to disruptions and system degradation, and you don't need to be an expert to think, do you?

I, for one, agree with Paula and thank her for her efforts. I shall continue mine with my co-workers, friends and family.

To the readers of this thread:

Read Dr. Paula Gordon's Biography and her essays on her website and decide for yourself whether she is an expert or not.

There are wolves among the sheep and when confronting the wolves, they run yelping with their tails between their legs. "No troll," come out with the goods -- put up or shut up. Quit making blanket statements if you can't back them up.

-- Anon650 (Anon650@Anon650.xcom), November 23, 1999.

I only saw the last 35 minutes of the program (while surfing). I was more interested in what Paula had to say than with her public speaking ability. I've followed Hyatt, Yourdon, Yardeni, Karen Ander- son for a year. I believe Paula thoroughkly understands that we have a nmassive problem on our hands, and that some - particularly the federal government -are not telling the American people all they know. I can only hope Paula's warnings and advice will be heeded by those who are able to help solve some of the problem. Good Job, Paula!

-- Richard B. Grenell (grenell@prtel.com), November 23, 1999.

I didn't see it, so I have no opinion about the show. But Paula Gordon is a brilliant person, and anyone who reads her White Papers and disagrees is a fool. You might disagree with her conclusions, but you can't disagree that she, and not Hillary, is the smartest woman in America.

-- Dog Gone (layinglow@rollover.now), November 23, 1999.

It may be on another thread, but I didn's see it, but did anybody hear when Paula Gordon gave out the web address of this forum if anybody was interested in finding out what to do to prepared for y2k?

-- susan (reaper1@mindspring.com), November 23, 1999.

Susan -- If I understand your question...

Paula referred viewers to this forum via http://www.yourdon.com, and told them to look for the link on the bottom left of the menu.

KC, Hey, I stand corrected, this forum was a sloppy second to yourdon.com/ p.s. why do you think that is that we were, as it were, advertised on a CSpan Live "gubmint" global announcement?

-- susan (reaper1@mindspring.com), November 23, 1999.

The following is a duplicate of a message that I have posted on other threads about the GW University program on Y2K broadcast over C-SPAN tonight:

You can see a first replay of tonight's panel program at GW University on C-SPAN 2 at 3:30 AM Wednesday morning, 11/24/99. You can also order a copy from C-SPAN by calling 1-800-277-2698.

I suspect that it will be played several more times during the next week.

My guess is that they will play it many more times if you call C-SPAN viewer services and request it.

Thanks for all the interest in the program.

By the way, here is the full website that I referred to:

Paula Gordon is a modern day Paul Revere, trying her best to warn of impending danger. I respect her courage and her intellect. She deserves a lot of credit for her positive accomplishments.

Not many people seem to have "the right stuff" to go up against the establishment yes-men and all of their glowing propaganda.

Paula Gordon has "the right stuff."

-- snooze button (alarmclock_2000@yahoo.com), November 24, 1999.

Paula has dedicated her life to educating the public about Y2K. She is trying her best to get the people in power to do the right thing and take care of public safety instead of worrying what today's polls say. She will go down in history as one of the good guys.

Thanks for the kind words and the interest in the "show".

Just noticed that the URL is incorrect for my website. It should be http://www.gwu.edu/~y2k/keypeople/gordon

-- Paula Gordon (pgordon@erols.com), November 24, 1999.

Paula Gordon is an outstanding individual who possesses something that very few of our public officials have: courage. Courage to stand up and say what she believes, no matter how unpopular it may be. She has a thousand times the courage of Bill Clinton, who prefers to sit back and roll the dice with the lives of God-knows-how-many Americans. what's embarassing is the apathy promulgated by this administration, and displayed by the poor attendance at the seminar.

Good work Dr. Gordon

I've been reading on this forum since April 1999 and really appreciate it. We make it what we want it to be! My husband and I caught the last hour and we're glad we did! Paula was excellent, we appreciate all she's put forth over the last year, what a momumental task...for her and the others who've worked so fiercely to inform us, Michael, Ed, Bruce, Victor, Sally......Tonite we agreed with Paula about the need to have a type of Crisis Center set up and ready to go in the event of something major happening. I'm sorry I'm not doing her proposal justice. We were "listening" fast! Those nuclear or chemical plant incidents are of concern to us as we live between 2 nuclear plants in a 150 mile distance, plant to plant! Please keep up the good work Paula, and others.

"Isn't it tempting to impute/ virtue to the very cute..." Bill Klinton is a masterful public speaker (so was that German guy with the mustache)...problem is, I have zero interest in what is coming so artfully out of his mouth.

-- Spidey (free@last.Amen), November 24, 1999.

Anyone who has not had the honor of working with Dr. Gordon is missing out on a true treasure. She knows of what she speaks. She is at her best when attacking "gov-spin-BS" one on one.

-- RJ (LtPita@aol.com), November 24, 1999.

I have read and watched this board for over a year. I have never posted on any site before this morning, but I feel strongly that it is important to defend the valiant efforts of Paula G. We are facing the possible massive failure of portions of our infrastructure and her efforts should be encouraged. I own a dump truck compamy and we have discovered an anomoly in one our electronic catrpillar engines. The technical people at our local dealer are telling me the problems we are having are shared by several other companies and they have no idea as to how to fix the problem. This is a samll example of an embedded system problem. I want to say to Paula G. keep up the good work.

Dr. Paula Gordon is The Y2K Joan of Arc !!

-- Ashton & Leska in Cascadia (allaha@earthlink.net), November 24, 1999.

I believe we all owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Paula Gordon for her continuing efforts to ask the hard questions and her fortitude to stay the course. Her c-span program gave us insight into where we are with only days to go until ___?___.

I am reminded of Socrates walking around Athens with his lantern. She is a seeker of truth and I applaud her. Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead! So far she has avoided the hemlock.

I will admit that some of my fears probably fall into the class of Don Quixote and the windmills.

I too would recommend a reading of Dr. Gordon's white papers.

Will the sound of Y2k be kaplooey or splat?

GO PAULA! GO PAULA! IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!

I saw the show, and gushed excitedly to my husband, "I KNOW HER!" I quickly explained that I just "know" her in the electronic sense!

Hee hee. Great show. You go, girl.
