OT: Prophecy...Mayans? Hopi? Help...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This is from WAY out in left field, but I seem to recall (somewhere in my 15+ year research into the Esoteric) a prophecy regarding a general failure of "machines" at some point. I have not the slightest idea where I heard it and it might just be my brain acting up again, but it's one of those things that I say "I'll make a mental note of this" to, and then promptly forget where I stored it. From some of the posts here I have noticed that there are a few fellow weirdos into this kind of thing, I'd like to hear from you if you have any leads.

The Mayan stone-gear calendar ends abruptly in 2021. Other than that, I'm not aware of any Mayan techno-prophecies.

I vaguely remember that too--I saw a remarkable quote (maybe on this forum) that predicted a future civilization, like ours, that would perish do to its overdependency on a device that had brought it great wealth.

I think it was a Middle Eastern source. Sufi mysticism?

I don't know about esoteric prophecy but I do know that the dynamism of the middle ages slowed and terminated in a century long depression. Machines did not fail but society changed and business failed.

Our society is about to change, soon. Authorities will be rendered powerless, soon. Our culture will also be destroyed, eaten from within, like past grand cultures.

What will cause machines to fail? Answer:debt will be repudiated and that will signal the end of credit for a very very long time. Without credit nothing moves, including machines.

the prophesy of technology turning on the people was either myan or inca and was shown on The Learning Channel "Anchient Prophesies (sp?)" shows

Ludi, I guess I should be switched.

I don't know if it's the one you're looking for, but I just read (in the last 10 days) a very similar prophecy in an older Hindi book. Can't remember the title, but it should cut your search down a little....

"The conveniences and comforts of humanity in general will be linked up by one mechanism, which will produce comforts and conveniences beyond human imagination. But the smallest mistake will bring the whole mechanism to a certain collapse. In this way the end of the world will be brought about." Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan, 1922 (Sufi Prophet)

The "failure of machines" that you mention could be related to speculation regarding the third secret of Fatima. It has been stated on one of those "esoteric" shows on television by the woman herself who received the prophecy as a child. On a given day all machines on earth would stop at the same time, and this would herald the beginning of the endtimes.

It should also be noted that the Pope was instructed to relay the final message of Fatima to the world before the end of the 60's, and that Pope declined to do so, as has every other Pope since then. While there are people who have read the text as it was relayed by the girl, they have never officially disclosed the exact words, although the previous two messages were.

Mark:

Is there a site where these predictions can be looked at or even a book. I'd be interested in this. I believe one of the documentation channels did a segment on this girl and I found it fascinating. Any help would be greatful.

Hey!

Thanks all! You've rung more than a few bells! On a similar note: I was mulling over the "3 days of darkness" prophecy and kind of thought "what about 3 days of DIGITAL darkness, hmmmm?" Sent a bit of a chill down my spine...and so did the Sufi quote as well just now!

I do recall that I had watched the Learning Channel series, so that may be where I remember it from, but it would not at all surprise me if it has originated from several different independent sources...especially if it happens and all.

Again, thanks!

Think Morgana has extensive links somewhere to other prophecy sites. Didn't check-these may not be home pages, but you can figure it out.

"The Mayan stone-gear calendar ends abruptly in 2021. "

I think that is 2012 RPGman :-) which is a date that comes up quite a few times...

An interesting quote I found; "The people who will survive will be those who love life and affirm life in every way they can. They will be people who are willing to make a conscious change in the way they view life and in their actions toward all creation. They will not be those sitting with their rifles over a can of beans. The survivors will be people reaching out for another level of consciousness and seeking communication with the Creator and the Earth. They will be people living close to the earth far from large cities who are able to grow and harvest or gather their own food from the wild. " Sun Bear, Chippewa Medicine Man (1929-1992)

Interesting,

LUDI:

I don't know if these URLs are still current --- looked into the Year 2012, Mayan, Hopi cosmology thing in Feb '97 (while doing the Y2K denial trip) --- may be out of date:

www.talis.com/mayan/maya.htm

www.talis.com/mayan/calendar.htm

www.resonate.com/places/writings/mayan/jenkins1.htm

Wrote to this last guy, Jenkins, suggesting there might be some connection betw his 2012 stuff and the looming Y2K problems.....never heard from him again. (Just like many of my acquaintances responded after hearing a few words about Y2K.)

I found the material to be well worth reading. Good luck,
