How important things are kept from the public. An example.

Here's a news flash that appears on the CNS web page. An article should be forthcoming.

Judge Urged to Avoid Recreating Final Day at Waco

(CNSNews.com) - The Justice Department Monday told a federal judge that efforts to recreate what happened on the final day of the Branch Davidian standoff in Waco, Texas would be unnecessary, impractical, and scientifically invalid. In an eleven-page document filed with the judge, the Justice Department said, "It is not practicable to recreate the conditions that existed at the Branch Davidian compound because of the complexity of the scene." Instead, the Justice Department urged the judge to appoint a court-appointed "neutral expert" to determine whether federal agents fired at people inside the compound on April 19, 1993. Attorneys for the survivors argue that flashes of light seen on videoptapes were gunfire, but the FBI says the flashes came from some other source.

---------

Now, if you read the flash and think just a little, you will realize that:

1) there is a trial in progress concerning the government actions at Waco.

2) The prosecution has submitted as evidence video purporting to show the government forces shooting at the branch davidians.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember a certain ten second peice of video showing members of the LAPD beating Rodney King being a rather hot news item. Couldn't turn on the TV without seeing it played over and over. And it should have been. The scandal was a stain on American Law Enforcement. (BTW, I'm pro-LEO in general). Yet this video footage, which shows MORE and DEADLY force being used against a building containing WEAKER victims (women and children) is ignored by the media. Now, that in itself says alot. Why would the Rodney King footage warrent the public eye and not this footage? Isn't this alledged social injustice that needs to be looked in to? Or, perhaps the question should be "Wouldn't the ratings be at least equally boosted by this injustice caught on film with all the resulting profitabity"? In any case the difference in coverage is remarkable.

But the my point here is, something this convtroversial can be occuring right now and most people won't know about it because of a lack of Media coverage. How many people were aware, even on this forum, that this legal action was occuring? And what would make you think that in a less than catastrophic series of failures other Y2K problems couldn't be "concealed" in the same way? A simple lack of media attention. It never happened.

Gee, second post in as many days. I'll have to start paying dues again.

How about the Kennedy Assassination, (anniversary yesterday)This had plenty of Media coverage yet their (the media) stories still reflected the governments spin.. Were the facts questioned? Yes, Were those who did question the governments spin, marked as extremist and kooks, YES. To me this was the bigest cover up of all time.. Will we ever know what really happened?? NO!!!! Do people really care after all these years.. NO. Time is the great healer...Keep everthing up in the air long enough and people will lose interest. Remind you of Y2K...YES.

Seen any pictures of Serbian/Albanian child amputees that we caused with cluster bombs? Nope, and you won't. Numerous international agencies have failed to find ANY mass graves in Kosovo, the supposed pretext for our war, but do you see any admissions forthcoming on the nightly controlled news? Nope. After Klinton the Wonderdog slammed the Sudanese pharmaceutical plant with missiles, it took a lawsuit on behalf of the plant's owner to get the facts before the American people. As I never tire of saying, we are the most heavily propagandized people on earth, and most don't even know it. At least in the old days, when a 'Soviet citizen' read Pravda or Izvestia, they KNEW they were reading propaganda. Not so in the land of Jerry Springer and Rosie "I'm a hag just look at me" O'Donnell.

Marli, you may be interested in the writings of Mark Lane, an attorney who pored over the many volumes of evidence that the Warren Commission collected, and documented the breathtaking contradiction between that evidence and the report issued by the Commission. (See Lane's book Rush to Judgment.) Lane was also party to depositions of key intelligence figures, which reveal the CIA's involvement. (See Lane's book Plausible Denial.) Both books are still available.

And on that same note, my counterpart at one of the NJ plants flew in to Newark International last night. The plane (South West Airlines) got pulled off the jet way and sat around for two hours before disembarking on another airlines terminal. The employees babysitting the passengers spoke of a bomb scare, and that a device was removed from the building. People at her office said they never heard anything about it other than a two hour delay due to weather. The weather wasn't that bad, supposedly. I asked, and they reported misting rain and fog.

Not on TV = Didn't happen.

Good To have ya back ther 'Eyes'

You are quite correct in the essence that lest we forget the socilist agenda being pushed by the fornicator in charge. Rodney King, a poor black man, (with priors) was viscoiusly beaten by a majoratively white police force. The Powers that Be, with the "share the wealth social equality for all" viewpoint would never allow a group of white Christians to be considered to be a 'trod upon' group/minority. The recent spate of crimes specifically aimed at christian groups have fallen on deaf ears. One must almost wonder if the paranoia espoused by various 'extremist groups' truly are the paranoid racist-rantings of an ignorant rabble, or is there something deeper than that?

If one looks at the social experiment promulgated by the Clinton Adminstration, one could almost say it has gone awry. For the first time we actually have people in jail, or awaiting trial for "Thought Crimes." This is the Orwellian nightmare come to life. The case of the teens who were plotting to "Blow up the school" are facing federal charges of conspiricy and other such insanity. If jail time is warranted for wanting to kill teachers or burn down/blow up a school, 90% of the 'normal' people including our preists and rabbis would still be behind bars. The mere mentioning of what the Clinton-socialist-Politically-Correct-Thought Police deam offensive is enough, (in their eyes) to warrant jail time. Because of this, this country has lost it's integrity, and it's sense of humor. Never mind that the Commander in Chief is a lying, raping, money-grubbing whore for the Chinese, thats fine. You got money? Hey! You got innocence. Just Ask O.J. America: The Best Justice System Money can buy!!

David, I watched a segment on the history channel last night about the Warren Commission and they interviewed Mr. Lane, I am sorry to say that I did not know so much new evidence had been found and part of the cover up expossed, we just go through life living in our own little worlds, not paying much attention to what goes on around us. To busy to get involved, thinking these thinks don't and won't effect us. Our government is out of control and it is our own fault, times have been good, stock market soaring. Kids in college, house payed off Just kicked back in joying the good live. Y2K whether a bump in the road or diaster has opened my eyes, I will no longer take things for granted, I will become more self sufficent, I will vote in every election, I will take control of my finances instead of letting someone else do it for me, I will pay more attention to issues that effect my neighbors foreign and here at home. I will get involved Sorry, I didn't mean to get on my soap box. I turly feel that by my lack of interest and apathy in governmental and local issues, I have added to our problems. And has been stated before: if you are not part of the solution, you become a part of the problem.....

Spidey,

I had a Romanian Army Major tell me that exact same thing: "In Romania, when we watched TV, we knew it was propaganda. Here in the US, you watch TV, but you seem to be unaware that it is also propaganda." Interesting perspective.

Eyes Open..we did actually have severe fog here yesterday and today. All airports were reporting delays all day long. None the less, I have seen examples of media keeping info under cover. While my brother was going to college in Carlisle PA, Three Mile Island happened. My mother called him in a panic...the news here was screaming "Dangerous accident...evacuating area...scary scary" and the news by him was mentioning "Minor incident...no need to worry...no big deal". My mother went off on a rant for an hour over the spin on that one.

The judge is absolutely right. Since the pigs (Feds) bulldozed the place immediately (just like Oklahoma City, also) all the evidence has been destroyed. How can they recreate a scene, ACCURATELY, when the evidence has been destroyed? A movie set, even based on the best of photographs, is incomplete and is not reality. All part of the plan. The pigs skate free.

eyes_open,

Thanks for your important reminder, when it comes to government today: don't trust, do verify.

This past July 31, I waited for over four hours at Tri-City Airport (Saginaw, Michigan), for our plane to take off headed to Chicago to catch a San Jose bound flight. All the while we were waiting we were told that there was a storm which was interfering with our flight path, and that we would be able to leave momentarily. Once we finally arrived in Chicago, we learned that folks arriving from all over the country had been told the same thing. The odd thing was that weather reports showed no storms. Eventually, it came out that there had been some computer "glitch." The next day papers covered it as a software upgrade that they were very careful to emphasize had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH Y2K! Yeah, right, sure.

Funny how none of you outraged libertarians is up-in-arms yelling about your own forum moderators deciding for YOU what information is and is not officially "sanctioned" for you.

You deplore the censorship by (an elected) Government of information which you feel would offer a more realistic, truthful and illuminating view of an issue, but stay silent when EXACTLY THE SAME THING is happening in your own back yard. No, in fact, you APPLAUD IT.

Got hypocrisy ?

W0lv3r1n3

PS - This comment will almost certainly be deleted despite the fact that it breaks none of the forum posting guidelines. Is the issue of the censorship of a Y2K forum more OT to Y2K than the issue of Waco ? If so, why ?

W0lv3r1n3: Forum janitoring is not an issue of censorship, and you know it. Folks who think not much will happen in the way of Y2K problems have every reasonable opportunity to make themselves heard. What gets deleted are disruptive posts, along the lines of starting the same titled thread 75 times. Some of these people have disrupted to the point of now needing to be deleted on sight. If we don't like the variety of information available on this forum, there are others, including ones where the culture encourages folks to make assinine statements to the effect that nothing bad will happen next year.
