Where in the world is everyone?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Greetings everyone!

Look up...wwaaaaayyyy uuuppp... to 54 degrees North & 123 degrees West. In central British Columbia, Canada is a city called Prince George. If you look VERY carefully, you may see Kurt(29), Tammy (28), Jonah (8 1/2) and Callum (2 1/2)) smiling and waving at you all!!

I've enjoyed reading--and occasionally posting--with you folks, and would like to remember you all in a special way.

I've got a big map of North America (yes, it has Hawaii too madmonk!)and we'd be delighted if you'd send me an email, telling me where you live:) We'll pin a little flag with your name(s) on it, and anything special about you that you tell us, where you live.

That way we can show the boys where everyone is and know who to remember in our prayers.

To those who don't know me, I'm the one who posted The Butterfly Effect and my analysis of Y2K with impact effect prognostications.

Zog, don't worry about the .gov address (I work the the British Columbia Forest Service)

Thanks again all!

Answers

I would love to tell you where I reside so I too could appear as a "KOS" flag on your map, but unfortunately due to security concerns on the part of the royal guard, this is not possible. However, please do at least consider me as being there in spirit. Perhaps as a random pin prick.

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), November 22, 1999.

Hmmm, being the paranoid person that I am, I'm not so sure giving out locations would be prudent. I'll just wave at you from my computer and BTW I enjoyed your Butterfly Effect.

-- remaining anon (remaininganon@remaininganonn.xcom), November 22, 1999.

Don't fall for it. This is an agent-provocateur. His objective is to find out who we are, where we live and then come steal our toilet paper. Ed, you go first. "Near Taos" is not good enough; need a complete address.

Kurt

I am in Victoria but you already know that.

Folks don't start flaming Kurt as a troll of some sort because I am aware of who he is and he is a conserned sort in regards to Y2K.

Kurt there are very suspicious folks on the board (possibly rightly so) that prefer their anon status. Matter of fact as time goes on the paranoia will increase. You know of course the great elephant to the south operates a bit different to the hick small town Canadian mind set (like us :o) so understand the possible misunderstanding.

Hey how many non US posters are out there?? That would be interesting to find out eh?

-- Brian (imager@home.com), November 22, 1999.

Hey Kurt,

In the summer, one of the Mike's did a role call thread that turned up a bunch of folks. Brian should be able to unearth it for you, but you may have to but him a real beer.

-- flora (***@__._), November 22, 1999.

Sorry all:

I should clarify. I don't want your toilet paper. I don't want your pork-n-beans, and I don't need to know your street address. If I can show Joe and Cal your nickname-on-a-flag pinned to a city or a state, that's plenty fine!

Zog, I must disappoint you, no sasquatch stories, but I've been chased by a mad mother grizzly and just about trampled by a sex- crazed bull moose! -moral: bowhunt from a treestand.

Kurt,

Just get you a whole bunch of pins and stick them all over the State of Texas, your bound to hit one of us.

Hey, plonk...my dearest sister is in Lake Bluff, and we grew up in Wheeling, moved westward in 1980.

Now I reside in beautiful N. Orange County, S. California, in a great college town I am reticent to mention,... but those who know and love me know where.

Donna,

I grew up in Riverwoods (west of Deerfield), moved to Wheeling after high school, and am now down in the Champaign area. Did you ever go to the Twin Drive-In?

TM,

I went to the Twin! Right by Palwaukee Airport right?? Ahh memories. :-) Thanks for the blast from the past.

TM,

I went to Lane Technical H.S. it was two busses & an L ride for me though, I was at the Chicago/Park Ridge border, Lane is on Addison Just west of Wrigley Field. Taft would have been my neighborhood school had I not been accepted to Lane. (Taft is the school 'Grease' was based upon).

Donna,

Really? What a great story.

Palwaukee airport is mentioned often in the 'Left Behind' fiction series that is so popular these days, as much of the saga is set in the NW suburbs. (just a bit of trivia... ;-)

-- Deborah (infowars@yahoo.com), November 23, 1999.

I'm actually in pretty good shape over there. The closest plant (a plastics plant) is almost 10 miles away. The nukes are almost 30 miles away. I wish both of them were about 3000 miles away, but I think it's far enough. I'll come back to Houston after they put out the refinery fires and the looting has stopped. I hope.
