MVET Taxes to Deepen the Columbia River?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

I heard on the news today that a plan to deepen the Columbia River to facilitate salmon survival has to be cancelled since the money for the project was supposed to come out of the MVET. Does anyone else know more about this? What else did we pay for with MVET?

Apparently, the MVET also paid for those little umbrellas you get in your drinks. I sure am gonna miss those.

If they deepen the Columbia, it might mess up my sturgeon fishing!

correct me if I'm wrong, but sturgeon are found in the deeper spots in the columbia. this would create habitat. As far as it actually happening with mvet money, I doubt it. This sounds like a federal project to me.

Ali, have you you seen Gary Locke's hair-do? Well that was paid for by your MVET money. Money well spent eh?? Oh and Marsha, you are an honorary dinosaur

A misconception perhaps? The depth where I have caught the most fish is in 35 feet of water. I have heard of monsters caught in quite shallow water.

Anybody know why the salmon would need it any deeper than it currently is?

That explains why Gary Locke had a little umbrella in his hair.
