I'm a "Downwinder"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I grew up in Southcentral Utah in the 40's, 50's and early 60's. I remember every month in school we got a chocolate flavored iodine pill. Sometimes they gave us two. I think now that they probably doubled the dosage after significant testing. I never realized this until I went to the pharmacy the other day to ask for potassium iodide. He said I couldn't get it, and I told him I'd had it all the time as a kid in Utah. "Oh! You're a "Downwinder," are you?" The lightbulb came on then. But I still didn't get my potassium iodide.
