Chicago Coverage

Chicago has all the news stations relating all the crisis areas that will be covering the new year. Relax says LaSalle Street. Utilities say they are ready and their antiquated equipment is to their/our advantage. How is the news covering things by other cities?

Either prettily crappily or not at all. In Dallas, we got a 2 min segment on taking out cash, making sure your PC is compliant (!!!!!!!) and going to the doctor for any problems now, not in December. That's all folks!

Birmingham: local news talked about y2k-ready power, telecomm, and university hospital. Don't take cash out of bank. Any problems are a "3-day storm".

No mention that our state gov't is ranked last in the nation for y2k preparedness.

Rolltide, we here in SC are only a couple of states ahead of you. Primary worry here in Greenville is that the traffic lights won't syncronise. Gee, it might take someone 8 minutes to get all the way thru downtown instead of 7. Of cours, nothing has been said about the 911 system, or the Regional Airport ( which does have 747 and 1011 service) or the SC revenue department or....or....or.....or....

Ah, the heck with it. I have nowhere to put additional preps, just a very few neighbors to discuss this with and my GI wife is in Florida with her mom and sick granma. I can't afford to get caught drinking (I'll lose my nursing license), I can't afford to get caught running around (I'll lose my wife of 23 years) and the state really doesn't care. FOF from here out, I guess.
