Jewel Nixes Concert for Y2K Fears

Quote:

"Pop singer Jewel has pulled the plug on her scheduled New Year's Eve concert before home-state fans, citing, among other things, worries over possible Y2K problems.

But some Alaskans say the real problem was jacked-up ticket prices. As of Friday, only 1,000 of the 8,000 available tickets had been sold at prices ranging from $65 to $99. The tickets went on sale Oct. 16."

Well, you decide which way it is. Is Jewel a "GI" or is she just bad at pricing tickets?.

Bad ticket pricing, combined with the fear of being stuck in "The Great White (Frozen)North" at the rollover probably has something to do with it. Lets face it, Jewel may love her homestate, but she currently isn't living there. I don't think its a GI v.s. a DGI issue. She's, if anything, being careful JIC. Besides, rollover in the frozen tundra of Alaska, or rollover in sunny So. Cali? She's opting out for the sun...

She understands what rough living is. She grew up in Alaska in a cabin with no electricity.
