OK. When will martial law be declared, and where?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Are we looking at martial law EVERYWHERE, or mostly around population centers? And, WHEN? I vote for between Christmas and New Years'.

Hey, let's start a POOL!!!!

Put me down for Dee Cee, NYC and Los Angeles, as well as Muskogee, Oklahoma. (Those people can get ornery I hear.) On or about January 8, 2000. (Have to give it a little bit for the "justification", you know. Even the government -- oops, I mean "gubmint" -- has to have some.)

By the way, do you mudwrestle?

Great question! If only someone had the correct answer. At this time, I believe it is like the rest of Y2K in general...we just can't pin it down yet. IMHO, a great deal depends on how much panic (if any) develops. It also depends on the mindset of the moment of the guy in the Oval Office. Remember that Clinton has an insatiable thirst for power and is inclined to do things a more rational person would not do. If he sees things really going sour, he might jump at the chance to make his power grab.

My best guess: IF he declares Martial Law, it would be in the time frame 12/28/99 thru 1/30/2000. I know that seems a little vague but that is the best my crystal ball can do. Also it would have to be nationwide.

I hope it does not happen because there is no defense against a tyrant who takes power under the guise of "law and order." Such a move would be a momuental jolt to our system and way of life and must be held in close scrutiny.

Irving

Add Detroit on my picks, too.

Muskogee?

-- I'm Here, I'm There (I'm Everywhere@so.beware), November 20, 1999.

Detroit, D.C., New York, L.A., Chicago and St. Louis.

These cities have a history for having civil disturbances, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a "lock-down" to prevent re-occurances.

Time? A day or so before 1/1/00 or during possible future shortages.

--these are a few high probability events to watch for.

--can't call it to the day, but will give you some clues to watch for.

--watch for one or more spectacular firearm's related massacres, probably following on the "children and guns" theme. I am of the opinion that several of the most recent were government agent provocatur operations, most notably the littleton colorado, and the jewish day care center shoot em up. --watch for an emergency crisis over seas which will call for even further dispersal of stretched thin US troops. The rogue manipulators in the government know full well which generals would cooperate with despotic martial law, and which won't. The ones that won't will get orders overseas. I'm thinking possibly iraq. Also, watch for possibly one more big plane crash, this one carrying high ranking military officers, and possibly some members of congress. --watch for some sort of domestic chem or bio attack in a major city or city --watch for the internet to be severely disrupted, it will be blamed on a "cyber attack" or some sort of new killer virus or something ---a combination of these events in a short period of time is most telling. emergency executive orders and martial law will arrive very soon afterwards. also, be prepared for that to happen in the middle of the night. ----cessation of firearms transfers, even between private individuals, a "temporary" ban on ammunition sales, and possibly a fed announcement of a "roundup" of "potential domestic terrorists" will also be an almost immediate precursor. ---the first effects will be in some rural and some urban areas. I am thinking it will be a mixed proactive strike by "them". --the bio attack will be the worst, look for very unusual flu outbreaks, with a lot of internet warnings the week or 10 days before of unusually high amounts of "chemtrails" --this is my best assessment. as to which cities, the obvious big ones, I don't think NYC or washington dc will be hit first, I'm more expecting strikes on the "heartland". It's more unexpected, and people there don't perceive themselves as being so vulnerable. It will be designed to instill terror in populations not psychologically prepared for it as much. zog the warner

How many troops (military, paramilitary, police, etc.) will it take to enforce martial law nationwide?

-- Liz Pavek (lizpavek@hotmail.com), November 20, 1999.

When the petrol's gone, we're all on equal footing.

-- Mr. Bob (thebobster@delphi.com), November 20, 1999.

Liz,

A lot more than they got.

Don't expect nationwide.....can't be done sucessfully. Look for cities to be the targets. Bigger bang for the buck.

KOS:

Probably want to add Cleveland to your list.

Can you say Glenville, Hough, and Collinwood (of course you have to be over 40 to remember the "Long Hot Summers" of 68, 69 and 70.

Copy zoggy's post. Put it into your text processor and format it so it stands out, one item at a time. Print it out and post it on the 'fridge. Print it again and carry it in your wallet. Print it again and hang it next to whatever you use to get your snewze. When you start to check off stuff, get VERY afraid.

I think it depends on the weather. Really. If we get hit with one or more blizzards like we did a few years back we won't need martial law since it's kind of hard to riot in freezing temperatures. However...if it stays nice and warm like it is now (and like it was last winter) then I'd place my bets on LA, SF, NYC and Atlanta as the first places to get martial law, followed by most of Texas and Florida.

--zionist. I'm not a soothsayer, I'm a compiler and analyser of data, from various fields. data input daily. so far, past three years on the web I've nailed two big ones decently, a half score on one, and missed one biggee totally. The one I missed is I thought about jan 20th last year that N.Korea would simply have to move south, possibly with the colusion and backing of china. OK--blew that one, didn't happen. The one I nailed it on was for this summer (and long time readers over at scary gary's might remember this)- I had-for this past summer-two events/signs--one, was a large land war involving the US in europe-- that happened-Kosovo--the second was an increasinag amount of firearms incidents, as part of the prelude to an australian-style gun grab, at a minimum. I think we've seen the buildup to that. I've also been promulgating the theory that there would be "terrorist incidents" domestically, and lo and behold we're getting set up right now by the feds. I'm calling this a half score. We're being spoon fed almost daily "warnings" about cyberterrorism, and actual attacks, maybe. My contention is that, YES, the US has legitimate enemies, but I think worse is that rogue US elements, part of various international cartels or gangs or orgs-whatever you wish to call them--would orchestrate these "attacks". OKC fed building bombing was such an attack. way too much anecdotal and circumstantial evidence for same. Now any attacks in the near to nearly near future would most likely be partly as a diversion, partly as actual terrorizing incidents to provide the excuse for fascism. Make the citizens demand security, security by givng up freedoms, and expanding big government. Isn't this happening now? If I'm wrong, great, we get to live as at least a semi-free society, If right, well........ I also think that y2k, although not done "on purpose" for nefarious reasons, was recognized as an ideal opportunity for "in the future" several years ago, and purposefully minimalized in the public and lower level corporate consciousness, and is still being manipulated for the consolidation of personal power and wealth for these same rogue and international elements. Hence the media spin and concurrent events. There IS smoke. There IS smoke from a number of different directions. And there appears to be some reasons. The reasons appear to be most human in nature, namely your garden variety vices, magnified google fold. That's how I see it, might change, but so far, events seem to be playing out. Good luck in your preps......

SF, LA, San Diego in CA.

NY City Chicago Dallas Las Vegas Seattle Miami D.C.

When? Soon. Very soon. People have observed the equipment has been deployed. We've all read those posts. A super power can't sit for useless months "waiting" like that in the face of global threats which it always has to fret about. It wouldn't have done that deployment if it weren't very soon.

Like I posted in an other thread,

Cops know what appaling casualty numbers they'd take trying to disarm and incarcerate the masses, they're not likely to try. Also, there are not many active duty troops compared to bubba and his deer rifle. We are, through our national love of hunting sports,a nation of snipers.Joe Blow can reach a long way with his trusty .308 hunting rifle. Martial law could eaisily exist at voluntary internment camps/food distribution centers, where people would have to surrender thier god given rights to self defence in exchange for rice and beans they could have purchased in 1999 for a much less terrible price.

Sick what if: Assume it does go south due to Y2K or cyberterror squads sabbing the rail/telecom/electric? You have large numbers of hungry people going into shelters (the sheeple who were unprepared.)

After the sheeple get to their concentration ...err...disaster relief camps, the spec-ops gangs get in their helos and planes and start looking for heat signatures. People with wood stoves, gennies, and such show up as bright sources of heat in the night. Then a visit from the JBTs to kick down your doors and machine gun the hell out of you ala WACO.

Hmm....
