Good morning.

Please make your staff aware of a movie being aired this Sunday November 21, 1999 at 9:00PM on NBC called "Y2K - The Movie". As a result of this movie, we may get questions from customers regarding our readiness for Y2K.

Should you get questions, please make sure you have an adequate supply of our Y2K Disclosure Brochures to give to customers explaining our position relative to Y2K.

You may also let them know that each [BANK] branch will have a uniformed [STATE] State Police officer on site from December 13, 1999 through January 8, 2000.

We need to be prepared for questions from customers who may express concern and each employee should feel comfortable addressing those concerns.

[BANK] has completed all of the required testing and has a contingency plan in place (your Business Continuity Plan) in case any problems arise as a result of Y2K.

[BANK] is ready to serve their financial needs through the end of this century and into the next.

Anecdotal... but interesting.

Think everything possible will be done to protect the Christmas spending season. A lot of small and medium businesses depend on it.

Just wish... Protect AND Prepare... was their motto. Rather than "protect at all costs."

[BANK] is ready to use any means necessary to prevent customers from withdrawing CASH. A uniformed [STATE] police officer stands ready to use force if necessary.

You inform the teller that you would like to withdraw $5,000.

She says "we are not prepared to disperse that much at this time, please fill out this withdrawal request and it should be ready within 7-10 working days, or, if you would like to take travellers checks, we'll give it to you right now!"

You say, "I don't want travellers checks, I want my damn money right now."

She has private conversation with the manager, manager has private conversation with Mr. Officer, and 3 minutes later, you are being escorted in handcuffs to the local jail for creating a disturbance and harrassment.

Intimidation will work 80-90% of the time. Most people will get the discussion with the officer walking slowly to the discussion at the window, "Oh, never mind, travellers checks will be just fine with me." " Oh don't forget our finely produced brochure, can I help the next person please."

I walked into my bank yesterday -wrote a check for $6,000 Cash--they took my check and gave me my money -no questions and no problems.

I'm afraid I missed the name of the bank and its location. I think this thread is a little short on specific information.

Specific details left out on purpose. Caps in brackets indicates where the incriminating information would be. In all fairness, this bank has less than 25 branches and I think the police remark was intended to "comfort" customers who may think that there are criminals waiting to get their money. But who really knows about any of it (Y2K)?!?
