S. Carolina Capital Attacked by UN, Marines
Although virtually not a WORD of this is being breathed by either
national or local ( South Carolina ) news media, Columbia, South Carolina
is currently being subjected to a Urban Warfare assault by masses of
U.S. Marines... AND, according to reports we've been forwarded, U.N.
troops.
Although the "assault was originally scheduled to last a week, it was
then extended to a MONTH; and NOW, we hear, the military troops are
occupying the South Carolina capital INDEFINITELY!! Say WHAT?
Although this misleading and highly dubious article --
http://www.thestate.com/headlines/a1docs/aaron_marines13.htm --
does report on the outrageous and outlandish situation, OUR
understanding is that LARGE PORTIONS of the entire downtown area are
completely closed off to "civilians" ( ha-ha ) ; and that the military is
really throwing their weight around in the area.
Now REALLY, people; what the HELL is going on here?

Well folks, they're at it again. Please read what was sent to me this
morning before I located this in the papers.
I absolutely could not believe what I heard on the local news last night
here in Columbia SC. The news was warning citizens to stay away from 5
Points in downtown Columbia SC. 5 points is our cities "restaurant row".
It's also all where most of the bars are located cause it's right near
the University of SC ( USC ) . In other words, it's pretty much the center
of nightlife here in Columbia, but NOT last night!
The local news at 7:00PM last night issued a warning to citizens to stay
away from the area as it was being used by the Marines for Urban warfare
exercises! The late night news last night showed 5 points abandoned
except for Marines vehicles and troops. Wonder what the hell the college
kids thought at the university when they they were turned way by armed
troops trying to go get a beer after class last night at one of the
local hangouts! More choppers coming into town today. Latest
reports are we now have at least several hundred Marines camped out IN
the city.
Local news reported early this week that the exercises had been
"extended" from the original 1 week to a month or more. Now we hear they
are here until "further notice". WTF?
Then today, I'm out taking my wife and our new son to the doctor and 6
choppers fly over our truck. I'm not a military person, but it looked
like 2 dark green black hawks, some other smaller dark chopper, some
kind of big "air crane" type chopper, a big white chopper ( bigger than a
black hawk ) and a smaller white chopper just like the smaller dark
chopper but white.
A guy I work with who's wife works for the city of Columbia, told me
today, that his wife came home last night and said that one of the
Marine officers had gotten into a heated argument with our Mayor down at
city hall about "carrying live ammo". What the hell is going on?
Everyone at work today was talking about this, a lot of kinda wary jokes
about we are being "invaded".

FOUND THIS, MIGHT HELP A LITTLE

Can't, Maybe, Just Maybe, it's got something to do with that flag flying over that domed building. You know, the one with the cannon holes in it. Might not though. But after being called not only a Damned Yankee, but a Fxxking Yankee for several semesters, I hoping.

Waiting patiently.....What's your point? The flag was raised at the centennial anniversary of the Civil War as a commemorative tribute in the sixties, and at that time seemed pretty appropriate. Only in the light of late Political Correctness witch hunts has that flag become an offense for people looking for offenses....If it comes down, would you feel better somehow about being a yankee? I don't get your drift....

Jay, The point is, The Sixties are over and so is the war, move on. BTW, 1st time I've never been accused of be politically correct, normally I'd be insulted, but in this case....THANKS

Hey, Can't Say, Nothing going on in Columbia other than some routine training exersizes. I emailed a friend who lives there and here is his response:Joseph, Sorry for the delay in responding. I was in Columbia last Saturday and Sunday. I spoke there Sunday morning and spent the night with my cousin and Aunt. I heard nothing about the military situation while I was there, neither from my relatives nor from anyone at the church where I spoke. When I received your email, I called my cousin and she said the marines were doing some training exercises but the goverment was pretty secretive about it. She thought it was training for urban warfare. But she also said that it was almost a non-event as far as disruptions in were concerned. So in answer to your question, Yes they did do some exercises. But no it did not seem to make much of an impression on the city. My cousin said there was hardly any mention of it on the news. Give my greetings to the brothers there. God bless, Billy
So.....Pleeeeaase don't give in to exagerations and rumours. That is not what we need right now.

Can't Say--you are absolutly right. I'm from Columbia ,S.C..It was supposed to be a one week training and they are still there.Helicoptors flying everywhere, even all night long. This is not a rumor but fact.We knew 3 months ago it was going to happen but not for as long as they are going to stay now.

Jay,It will be a sad day if the South Carolina Rebel flag becomes the victim of the politically correct crowd. The notion of state's rights will have suffered another blow at the hands of the social manipulators of our day. I'm embarassed to say that "the queen of buffoonery" Carol Mosely-Braun, and the "Great Emasculator" Abe Lincoln, have ties to my home state Illinois.

Listen,That flag is part of no tradition other than slavery. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't that flag first hung on the statehouse only in 1957, at the beginning of the civil rights era, as a message to uppity blacks -- BLACKs CAN NOT VOTE IN THIS STATE. YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN SLAVES HERE.
We beat you in 1865 and we will beat you again.
