Summary: Okay, that is a rundown on various products of the Baker Hughes family. Personally, I find it commendable that they have been so candid and open on this matter. We do want to note that there are many items in their system that are labeled as being compliant or were not date-sensitive to begin with. I've presented all of this material so that those reading this and who've been doing some preparation but recently wavering because morons like Factfinder attempt to mislead them into a false sense of security that there won't be any problems, relax, don't worry, be happy. I do not and have not said that Y2K will be TEOTWAWKI. I'm not absolutely certain it will be a disaster. I do think that the risks are exceedingly high that serious disruptions will occur to our society and economy. There will be failures in the Oil Patch. How severe or extensive is unknown. But the odds are strongly in favor of severe disruptions. The odds are extremely against a BITR. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 = TEOTWAWKI) I've ranged from a 4 to a 7. Lately I've been moving towards the upper end of that range and could conceive quite easily of an "8" category though I'm not convinced it will be that severe. Certainly very strong odds for a 6-7 range and I haven't been able to see any evidence of it being less than a "4" but I think a "4" is probably being too optimistic.

Ah nuts, this didn't format out correctly. It's all there just jumbled together. Again I encourage you all to go to the Baker Hughes website and go thru the material for yourself. See all the various product items listed as non-compliant. I've got more say specifically on Factfinders claims regarding the specific product he called into question. That will have to wait for another day and time as I've run out of time for now...but I'm not finished with this just yet. More to come soon enough.

Great stuff R.C. I have read every word. Factfinder's experience in the oil industry must be limited to pumping gas.

Yes, thank you for the posts. You know, when we say it isnt the end of the world, you mean FOR US. Think about all those that WILL be turned upside down. SO many countries are based around thier ports. ALl the little people strung on a thin web of support that is soon to go boom. Kosinskin told me to my face that ports were going down in places and it was not a matter of days, but months for some to fix. That spells total disaster for the soon to be hungry locals.

Bill,

Now that is an interesting story. You met Kosky himself? I suppose I better bite my tongue... I can feel a joke coming on but it wouldn't come out right, I'm sure. Very interesting that Kosky mentioned the ports issue. Well, there's a lot more he should be telling us but isn't. Thanks for that personal anecdote.

-- R.C. (racambab@mailcity.com), November 19, 1999.

I thought Kosky said he wanted Americans to "know everything I know" about Y2k.

Why do I sense he's not being totally upfront with us about a few other things he "knows"?

What a despicable man. Oh, and thanks, R.C.

God help us all.
