Please people let me clear something up I am not now or ever been a doctor. I make no claim of such. Neither do I want to give any impressions of opening a clinic and conning the general public out of any money. I have made no diagnosis of any symptoms to anyone nor have I written any prescriptions.

If you do your research on the net you can find most of all I have said. There have been countless books on home remedies you can find them at Books A Million and Barnes and Noble. That is what most of this is about. Making use of natural products and what may be in your home to keep going. Did you know that Antibiotics didnt arrive on the scene until 1940. What was used before this miracle drug? Sulfur.

So people relax I am not practicing medicine and I wont be sending you a bill lol.

Love to you all and be healthy.

Oh and one asked about diabetes. Research Niacin it has been found to reduce the need for insulin and in some totally with diet make insulin use a thing of the past. The study showed that in brittle diabetics that the success was not as promising. To resarch this look up Niacin+diabetes or just plain Niacin or Alternative medicine+Diabetes.

Mary, there is a diet that helps people with seizures. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the diet, but I think it's named for the hospital/clinic where the diet was developed. The diet had to be tailored to each patient and involved a certain percentage of fat (high) in the diet. Maybe someone else can help with the name?

Ketogenic diet. Don't recall name of clinic. Best results in younger patients/children. I believe a relatively recent movie staring Meryl Streep with the title "Do No Harm" presents one family's struggle to gain access to the clinic against the ill- informed advice of the doctor treating their son. Good luck.

God help us all, against arrogant docs!

Mary, I'm not a doc either, but read about aspartame, that wonderful artificial sweetner that is killing people, causing grandmal seizures in airline pilots who consume a lot of coffee with the pink stuff, and diet sodas. This stuff was proven to cause brain cancer in labratory rats, the data was "misplaced", the rats came back to life, and it goes on from there. The head of the FDA that approved it, quit two months later and took a nice position with the mfg of nutrapoison, and it goes on from there. If your husband drank this stuff regularly over a long period of time, it may be the cause.

Do a search on aspartame, and you will come up with what could prove to be the biggest scandal since the blue dress with the stain. Next to Y2K of course. Good luck.

Susan,

Have you heard of Essiac Tea? I have the recipe and made it up a few years ago for my husband, it helped him with his arthritis pain.I had heard it was originally created by a nurse in Canada.

On the diabetes issue, JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE ROOT, has a form of natural insulin in it. I have a diabetic friend who was able to stop taking injected insulin with the root as a substitute. The plant grows abundantly most everywhere--just find it at the store and plant a little piece of it, and it grows like crazy. It's crunchy and sweet, and is great on salads. As far as using it as an emergency dosing solution, I don't know how much my friend took each time, but I got the impression it was an ounce or so.

Bill, it isn't the "pink stuff" (Sweet 'N Low) that is the problem, but the "blue stuff" (NutraSweet) that is Aspartame. The "pink" S&L is simply old-fashioned saccharin.

And there HAS been a woman doctor who exposed Aspartame on the internet and in a book, and the firm we all know and love who created this vicious stuff has been after her hide for it for awhile now! She is the heroine who first warned us all.

More on the Ketogenic diet for seizures. The therapeutic basis of the diet is that it maintains an elevated level of ketones in the bloodstream. Ketones are not considered benign. For that reason, the diet is always done under a doctor's supervision.

The first step in the diet is a rigorous fast. This elevates the ketones. After this, the patient is put on a diet that is very high in fat and very low in carbohydrates. This maintains the ketones. In essence, you trick the body into believing it is still fasting and is tapping its own fat resources for fuel. The biggest problem is monotony of diet. Eating almost nothing but fat is very difficult.

The diet does have excellent results, even with intractable seizure disorders. Apparently the stats run about like this: about one third of the cases become seizure-free, another third experience reduced seizure activity, another third show no improvement. Subjects can be taken off the diet after a couple of years and they usually show lasting benefits, without needing to resume drug therapy.
