WHY ARE THE POLLIES HERE?

DON'T THEY HAVE ANYWHERE TO GO PLAY WITH THEMSELVES, THAT IS EACH OTHER?

-- GOLDBUG (GOLDBUG@MINT.COM), November 16, 1999

Answers

I've noticed a number of them sound very young, they are badly educated, and struggle with even the slightest bit of complex thought. (Dumb, and I don't like having to say that.)

-- Paula (chowbabe@pacbell.net), November 16, 1999.

chowbabe

You mean sound as mature as GOLDBUG up there????

Yep, that's what I wanna be like when I grow up.....

Or, I could be as bitter as chowbabe........nah......

Either way, you end up a loser.....

Seems like the majority of the pollies here are just trolls. Nothing better to do than troll. Darwin will take care of some/most/all of them soon enough.

-- anonymous (anonymous@anonymous.com), November 16, 1999.

Yes, because you have stored a years worth of provisions, to include enough water to float a boat and enough ammo for the F.B.I. to take inventory, you are infinitely wiser those that have not.

When your DGI neighbors tell ATF about all your guns, gun powder and ammo, and all of your military hardware is seized, how many cans of tuna can you sell to make bail?

-- Homer (I_am_so_smart@SMRT.doh), November 16, 1999.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie pop......

The answer is identical.....The world may never know:)

Have I got a church for all you doomers that don't like the pollys taking up precious space on your discussion forum!

It is the Church of the Agreeable. At our church, everyone agrees with everyone else. There is no disagreement on any issue to be found. Everyone just nods their heads in total agreement to what is said, and except for the occassional "AMEN" you only hear one voice at a time.

Afterwards everyone pats everyone else on the back telling them how right they are about everything. No one is displeased, because no one would think of disagreeing with anyone else on the subject matter. This church is located in Happy Valley, and I do hope you'll be there for our next sermon on Y2K, titled..."Why the pollies are so stupid!"

-- Reverend (doomed@doomed.Itellya), November 16, 1999.

I sort of picture a room full of computers and a bunch of "kids" working for minimum wage (or a little better). First government job. Congratulations kid! You're gonna go far. Kinda like telemarketing. Ever notice how some seem to work together. Easier if they are in the same room (or are they the same person?) Shouldn't be too hard to have them on different servers even if they are in the same place, right? (or wrong?) So... do you suppose this is a "private" or government enterprise? ABA perhaps? They did such a FINE job on that sermon. Your ATM fees at work? Anyway... keep up the good work kiddies (and psst.. pick up a sack of beans with your next paycheck, I wouldn't count on a big severence check come 1/1/00).

-- Linda (lwmb@psln.com), November 16, 1999.

Sure enough, say "polly" and "dumb" in the same breath, and you get ... Deano!

Without a doubt, the absolute DUMBEST polly on this forum! LOL!

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), November 16, 1999.

My question goes a little farther: Why would anyone spend the time, energy, and money to set up, run, and post on a site like the Debunking Y2K site? The same question may asked about this site, but the answer would be, "if the doomers are right, then this site has been valuable to many people and maybe even saved some of their lives." What if the pollies are right? If that's the case, the Debunking site has performed NO useful function at all, except maybe as emotional release.

Just to be fair, I will attempt to look at this from the polly viewpoint (although I'm not one) using a completely hypothetical scenario:

I believe the world is round. There are, however, a growing number of people who believe the world is flat and, if you get too close to the edge, you might fall off. In fact, they believe that it is inevitible that everyone WILL fall off, so they recommend appropriate preparations (parachutes, pillows, etc). There are even websites and discussion forums devoted to FOTEOTE (fall off the edge of the earth) preparations and discussions. Now, I think that this is COMPLETELY NUTS! What are my options to respond to this foolishness? I can 1) get on their discussion forums and tell them what complete idiots they are, 2) start my own "Debunking Flat Earth" forum where like minded individuals go to present evidence that the earth is round and to rain down invectives on those foolish "flat-earthers", or 3) I can laugh to myself and ignore them completely. Here's the $64 question:

Why would anyone with a "life" choose options 1 & 2? If I believe that I'm right, why waste time dealing with those silly "flat- earthers" because, if I'm right, then nothing will happen and the world will go on. Why waste the energy?

Back to our current situation: I'm no psychologist, but I'd be interested in hearing from any who may be out there an explanation of what kind of psychological profile is necessary to cause a person to intrude on a discussion that, even if they don't agree with it, doesn't affect them. It's not that we don't welcome differing opinions, but once you've made it clear that you don't/won't/will never agree with the doomers, then any further "trollism" is just annoying badgering.

-- rob minor (rbminor@hotmail.com), November 16, 1999.

rob - ITS THEIR JOB!

[somebody's gotta do it - that is if you operate under the assumption that panic is worse than the "bug" or at least should be postponed as long as possible].

Think of it as advertising. Just a business expense. Ignore the poor trolls... they are just doing what they are being paid to do. Time is short.. 45 days. At least you will rest with an easy conscience when this is all over. Will the fact that they were just doing what they were told comfort them when they realize the suffering they have contributed to?

-- Linda (lwmb@psln.com), November 16, 1999.

Right-on target Rob! I've also thought of them, and referred to them to other GI's as the "Flat Earth Society." Actually, anyone unable to "process" in their minds the need to try something new, or embrace a new way of thinking I put in this category, for they are forever locked in their rut in life, no matter what amount of evidence is placed before them to the contrary.

-- (snowleopard6@webtv.net), November 16, 1999.

KoS,

I don't know, that's a tough call; Y2Kpro and YouKnowWho are stunningly stupid as well.

BTW deano, I think I'd like to have the bitter chowbabe as my neighbor. At least she wouldn't be over trying to bum spam & eggs all the time.........Just kidding Paula! :)

-- cavscout (cavscout@fix.net), November 16, 1999.

Oh come on, they might just be dumb pollies. But, they are OUR dumb pollies, and we have to stand up for them.

-- Butt Nugget (catsbutt@umailme.com), November 16, 1999.

YouKnowNothing has a few more IQ points than Deano, but Y2K Pro?? Now THAT could be Deano!

-- (patooey@trolls.pffft), November 16, 1999.

From: Y2K, ` la Carte by Dancr (pic), near Monterey, California

I finally figured out why the pollies/trolls come here

I absolutely love it when Doomers say I'm going to be dead soon!

Amused Regards,
Andy Ray

-- Andy Ray (andyman633@hotmail.com), November 17, 1999.

Oh, OK, then let me say it: Andy Ray, if you don't stop your promiscuous behavior with the Porky and the guys in Cellblock D, you will get some terrible disease that may cause you to get real sick and end your life prematurely.

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), November 17, 1999.

Is that the best you creative bunch of social rejects could come up with??

'Tis a sad day in Geekland when 'dumb' and 'stupid' are the best yall could do........a sad day indeed.

Hey Queenie - do us all a favor and choke on that handle of yours pervert. Which begs the question - do you swallow??

They are here to stop the needless spread of fear. Some of you say they offer nothing of value. go read this thread

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001mxQ

in which 'R.C. (racambab@mailcity.com' tries to slander Factfinder. He doesn't refute what Factfinder says....he resorts to allusions of Nazi's and Goeblles. Another poster further down 'cl@sky' puts him in his place.

I chose option 3 from the above list. Its the only sane thing left to do. People are smarter than the fringe groups give them credit for. They aren't buying the "gotta git my guns and groceries from y2ksupply.com!"

-- Children Should (have their computer privel@ges.taken way), November 17, 1999.

Okay. So, the forum is crawling with polly trolls this morning...doomersucks, youknowwhats and all their little Buddy(s) ;-O Yet, the only DeBonker's polly to show up is...TA DAAAA!!!....DEANO!!
