The software engineering field is staffed primarily by men; the ratio of male to female software engineers is on the order of 15 to 1. This makes it pretty easy for women to find potential mates among their peers.

However, software types have a well-earned reputation for being... a little strange. While discussing the prospect of working in the software industry, one woman commented to another:

"The odds are good, but the goods are odd." ~~~~~~

Lars, LOL! It's not the odds, it's the goods?

Repeat after me: Ohhhh Teeeee.

The "odd goods" all seem to be after a SuperModel lookalike not Miss TechnoGeek USA.

I'm not looking (right now), but my male counterparts who are looking are not interested in someone who they feel will compete with intellectually or professionally. All the married ones I know are hooked up absolute Ludites. It makes it hard for those of us gals who were past members of the Math Club rather than former cheerleaders. The relatively high salary levels in our field gives the guys an edge in finding what they think they need. As a woman, the same thing only means you gotta watch out for the "American Gigolo" or "Needy Ned". Oh well, I love my work.
