Gold in Hong Kong

Here's one for the goldbugs.

I went to the head office of HSBC in Hong Kong today, trying to buy 1 oz. gold coins, and was told that they didn't have any!

Thinking that there might be some misunderstanding, I rephrased the question, and received the same response.

I have purchased gold from HSBC (formerly Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corp.) before, usually from one of their sub-branches. And yes, this is the same group that is purchasing Republic Bank of NY.

Stan: I 'got it' August of 1997. We don't have to leave our 10 acre property for a minimum of 2 yrs., if we don't want to.
