DOOMERS WILL NEVER SHOOT

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Zoobie started a thread about how to handle those who come knocking.

Here's my take on the situation. You wackos don't have the guts to shoot. Have any of you ever looked into the eye of another human being with a loaded gun?(other than war veterans)

You pathetic people wouldn't have the guts to point a gun at another human being, let alone shoot it.

You sickos are so far gone that even the boys in white jackets would be afraid to come calling.

Heaven help us.

If the wackos(your word) won't shoot, why would the men in white coats be afraid to come calling? Lumber Jack

Why are we wackos?

I hope for your sake you really don't believe your own misguided rantings. We had a saying in sniper school. "You never hear the one that gets you." Myself, I've had the distinct displeasure of having sacricied a fellow human on the altar of Mars, and I'd do it again. But don't lull yourself into trolling for retarded answers that you really don't want to hear. Yo may be unpleasantly surprised.

In Post Y2K, 'Reach out and touch someone..." may have a whole new meaning.

those of us with families have a responsibility to our loved ones who are not capable.self defence requires no apology and we preppers have not nor will we be the problem.Someone who would illegaly come to my hous to take the food from my family's mouth is NOT a human being but a mad dog to be put down for the benefit of all humanity.Gutless cowards can skew that however they please.I sleep easy.

Thanks Unarmed, for your gracious acknowledgement that we doomers are basically peaceful, well-meaning people. It means a lot to us.

*****PLEASE DON'T FEED THE TROLLS*****

-- (TrollPatrol@don't.com), November 14, 1999.

If you were attacking my family, I would draw down on you and DESTROY you without a single thought, and I wouldn't experience a single sleepless night over you. To me, predators are just a target at the range. (And if you think that makes me "wacko", that's all the better for ME.)

Is your life insurance paid up....?

-- Dennis (djolson@cherco.net), November 14, 1999.

I don't even own a gun and don't care to.

That said, (Unarmed@home.com) is trolling. Here and on other threads.

Must be something about Sunday evening.

This asshole brings up a valid point. I have always believed that until you've been in an actual combat/life and death situation you have NO idea how they will react.

I have had to hurt someone to save my friends life once in a very bad situation. Up until then, I always thought it would be "cool" to be in a combat situation and use force. Guess what? It ain't. It doesn't feel good at all, in fact, it feels quite bad. And although there was a brief flicker of hesitation due to shock, on my part, I acted quickly enough to save my friends life. On the other hand, as I look back, I'm glad this situation did occur, as I know how the most important person I need will react in combat, ME.

When I practice at the range, I use photo-realistic targets. They are life sized photos of some bad guy with a gun pointed your way. (after all when's the last time you got mugged by a bullseye?). It helps to use them. If you can get them in your area and use them, do it.

Also, get out there in the woods and shoot something. A squirrel or rabitt or something. I know this sounds warped, but do it. You won't like the feeling, but maybe it will keep you from hesitation. The really bad guys never hesitate for a second.

Enough of this crap from these troll piss-ants!!! The SYSOPS need to declare Martial Law, delete idiotic threads like this one, and BAN whatever IP address this piece of crap is posting from!

1.5 months to go. Who the hell needs this "de-bunker" foolery???

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.cum), November 14, 1999.

Yes, I have had to point a loaded gun at an intruder, and no I did not have to shoot him. At the police station he said he had been drinking all day and did not know which house was his. When he was confronted by me with a pistol, he did everything I told him to do, including walking out the door, with his hands behind his head and laying face down on the frozen ground (near Chicago in January). We waited for the police to arrive and they took him to the station. He was arrested to breaking and entering and drunk and disorderly. He sobered up real quick when he saw the pistol pointing straight at him. Had he tried to attack me, I would have pulled the trigger.

What I am concerned about, is not that I will hesitate at the wrong moment out of moral concerns, but out of fear of being arrested and sent to prison. In a chaotic situation one might not get bail or a fair trial. Not that a "fair" trial would help, since morality and legality are two very different things in most places.

The Treasure

When colour goes home into the eyes,

And lights that shine are shut again

With dancing girls and sweet birds' cries

Behind the gateways of the brain;

And that no-place which gave them birth, shall close

The rainbow and the rose:---

Still may Time hold some golden space

Where I'll unpack that scented store

Of song and flower and sky and face,

And count, and touch, and turn them o'er,

Musing upon them; as a mother, who

Has watched her children all the rich day through

Sits, quiet-handed, in the fading light,

When children sleep, ere night.

Oh, I just don't know where to begin,
though he says he'll wait forever,
it's now or never,
but she keeps him hangin on
the silly champion

She says she can't go home
without a chaperone

Accidents will happen
we're only hit and run
Refuse to be a victim
now you're not the only one
Accidents will happen
we're only hit and run
I don't wanna hear it cause I know what I've done

There's so many fish in the sea
that only rise in the sweat and smoke like mercury
But they keep you hangin on
they say you're so young

Your mind is made up,
but your mouth is undone

(Repeat chorus)

And it's the damage that we do
and never know
I's the words that we don't say
that scare me so

There's so many people to see
So many people to jerk apart and add to your collection
But you keep them hangin on
until they're well hung

Your mouth is made up,
but your mind is undone

(Repeat chorus)

I know - I know (Fade)

We have a saying for the untrained. "How fast can you shift gears?"

If the pollies don't shoot, how are they going to get the food away from the doomers? Me first and my family first. Known neighbors second. No thirds.

Humans are the only animals that can go 40 years calm as a Jersey cow and then under the right stimulus turn into a Bengal tiger.

Many people have died with their last thought being "THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING TO ME".

Just remember GI's, you probably won't be up against the military or even a street punk, just some poor hungry DGI. Go ahead, you can take him.

-- nike (observer@cpx.mil), November 15, 1999.

Zoobie, Dennis, nike, I agree completely. I have moved to East Muleshoe, Minnesota, precisely because I wish to minimize the likelihood of this situation coming up. However, if a starving DWGI comes to my door and threatens my family (by trying to take food I cannot know is in excess until Y2K is over), I do not deserve the titles of husband and father if I am unable or unwilling to use as much force as it takes to stop the threat. I may not have been in actual combat, but I am the son of a combat veteran who HAS repeatedly killed, and (besides my knowledge of military history) have IMO reason to believe I have more than a passing idea about this subject. In paintball (a harder-core variant of which I have tried) the target does not die, but it still involves taking a gun, putting a man in your sights, and pulling the trigger, all the while being under fire your brainstem thinks is the real thing. I believed that being a scientist would be hard but doable before I became one (and found this to be so), and so I expect it will be if I am forced to shoot a looter to safeguard my family.

The way I see it my doors and windows are shut and if you choose to come through it means you intend to harm me and my child.

By coming through you have made the choice to die as you will get it in the eye just as I shot the dirty dog killing my chickens I caught when I drove up from work one day, when he would not run away. I did not hesitate and had no flicker of sad remorse or emotion. He was killing what I needed to feed my child and would not leave so he had to be eliminated. NOR will I have sad remorse for anyone who has made their choice to come through my door. I just figure they woke up that morning and made a choice to die that day. You have to make choices in life and I have chosen to protect my child.

I will be extra sure of doing this if things are bad. Even now if anyone even comes to my door after dark, first thing I do is get my gun and talk through the door. I do not worry about insulting anyone by not opening my door to them. If they are stuck on side of road I offer to call someone for them as they yell out the number. That is the extent of help they get from me. Don't mess with a woman alone protecting her child. You should be more afraid of her than you are the marines; she has more to lose.

I will be even more cautious after the turn.

-- Onebyone (susanwater@excite.com), November 15, 1999.

P.S. Regarding my response above. The dirty dog was the four legged kind but I believe any person who comes in on a mother and child to harm them has sunk to that level so deserves the same.

-- Onebyone (susanwater@excite.com), November 15, 1999.

Children alone : Taken in, until my own family's well being threatened. Children especially those old enough to do farm chores will be useful.

Mother and child(ren): Fed and sent on. See Women Alone.

Elderly: If they are relatives, they will be taken in. Even though they may not be able to do alot of hard work, they have alot of wisdom. Non-related elderly are an unknown quanity and I will not waste resources with them.

Families with able bodied men: Can fend for themselves. If related will help all I can

Men Alone: Will be terminated with extreme prejudice if not known to me.

Women Alone: I will not tolerate any unattached woman that is not a blood relative in my household. Will be warned to leave then see "Men alone".

By the way, I consider my canine companions to be Family.

To those of you who consider these terms draconian, I have two words: Donner Party.
