Gloomer Kosky just heard on a radio news blurb

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just heard a Y2K news blurb that just had the gloomy news from Kosky, not the don't-worry-be-happy parts. Is this a sea change? He said many small businesses are doing nothing and those who take a "wait and see" approach are headed for trouble. There will be a huge demand for repairs after the New Year and IT MAY BE SPRING BEFORE THOSE REPAIRS CAN BE MADE.

What? No 3 day storm? [back to Costco!]

He also mentioned the percent [over 50%?] of 911 systems that are not ready.

The info was the same as in the Wednesday report - link here - but I thought it significant that only the gloomy stuff was reported in the short news piece. Watch for more of same?

I wouldnt count on more of the same, Linda, the stock market might not like that kind of talk.

Was it edited newstape? Was it from an interview? Maybe the journalist/editor was a GI and pulled forward the other side of the information, for once. Selectivity works both ways.

Expect more straight talk right after the NBC Y2K movie a week from today. That way, TPTB can say they warned the populace. It's like the SEC 10Q filings...early ones are happyface, the very last of the year are turning out to be somber, just to get the problem on the record so as to avoid a securities fraud charge.

K.Stevens has a good point. We have 7 days to prepare before the 'program' begins. TPTB will try to align and fly this herd through the chute. Finish up your preps this week.
