Vertical composition with Speed/Crown graphics?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I've looked all over the net, in the FAQs and all, but I haven't been able to figure out if you can make a Graphic shoot vertically without rotating the entire camera. Can the back be reconfigured to accept film vertically?

Thanks, Josh

Sorry...you gotta turn the whole camera, thats why there's a tripod screw on the side of the body. In order to have a rotating back, the bellows with have to be square. Using a Speed Graphic for a view camera has its limitations, but the camera does so many things well, that it is worth working with its strong suits.

thanks.. I guess it's a super graphic for me, then.

Since I use my Speed Graphic hand-held with electronic flash, it isnt really much of an issue with me. I just balance it on my left arm. If I do put it on a tripod, I just unsnap the strap and screw into the socket on the left side of the camera. The comment about the rectangular bellows tells why you cant mount a revolving back.
