Thanks to Stan Faryna for putting together the Alladin Lamp group purchase

About a month ago Stan posted an offer to participate in a group purchase of Alladin Lamps at a discount price. As only a lurker to this point, I had read Stan's prep postings as well as his opinions on various topics. I sensed that he is a good person so I ordered 4 lamps as well as spare parts. I even asked him to send my order in a split shipment (2 lamps were for my friend). My order was promptly shipped. Actually, since our order was going to be late in shipping to me due to a snafu with the distributor Stan was dealing with, Stan took it upon himself to send my order via priority mail.

The point is, in these discouraging times when friends and family scoff at my preparations, when others do not follow up on their commitments, it is most uplifting to find someone like Stan who will go out of his way to help others.

Thank you, Stan.

Stan is a great guy! It's worth having the world destroyed to meet guys like him--well, Stan, almost.

We got an Alladin in that deal too, if you're looking for one, get it while you can!

Didn't participate int he bulk-buy (got mine last year), but wanted to ask:

Has anyone seen the Emergency Essentials catalog, where in their ad for Alladins, they show one with a tomato cage over it (upside down, with the legs splayed out) AND

FYI for anyone in the Seattle area...Cavanaugh's Ace Hardware in Auburn has the glass base/no shade type Aladdin lamp- on sale no less - for $79.99 - they had 6 left when I was there Wed. and purchased one for my parents for Christmas. They also have extra mantles and chimneys but I didn't see any wicks. They said they got an "unexpected " shipment in and didn't have room with all the Christmas stuff..

Crystal,

Thanks for your kind note. Not everything went as perfectly as I had imagined. There were delays. Worse, the tall aluminum lamps ran out. However, everyone who ordered a lamp is getting a lamp (and a bit nicer of a lamp too for those whose orders didn't get shipped out in the first round). I am in the process right now of boxing up the last of the orders from the first cooperative buy on aladdin lamps and hope to get them in to the post office on Monday and Tuesday-- if anyone has been wondering.

Sincerely, Stan Faryna
