10-Nov-99 Gov Report -- Getting harder to hide truth

For those who still believe the politiions, you need to read carefully the 10-Nov-99 y2k status report from the feds. This may perhaps a repost, but good info, even though "properly spun".

Sample: "Wireless Telecommunications. The March 1999 Y2K Communications Sector Report expressed concern about the readiness of smaller wireless telecommunications carriers. At that time, the response rate to the FCC survey of commercial wireless carriers had been disappointingly low, with only 31 percent of those surveyed responding. According to the March report, very large companies (operators providing service to more than 500,000 customers) had completed almost 60 percent of their fixes, but only about half of the small carriers (operators serving less than half-million customers) had implemented a remedial plan or process. By June 1999, the number of survey responses in this area had doubled. Additional responses supported the findings of the initial survey; very large companies were substantially better prepared than smaller carriers for the date change. In August 1999, the FCC's Y2K Task Force re-surveyed the wireless telecommunications industry in order to confirm the overall readiness of the industry. The August re-survey produced 248 responses, a 74 percent response rate. Eighty-eight percent of respondents stated that they had completed Y2K preparations or had remediation plans in place, an increase from the 54 percent reported in the March."

That's 74% of 80% that say they have completed y2k preps OR have plans! Tragic for stock holders of those companies. Translates like this: 59.2% of wireless companies are ready -- best case.

(oops -- make that politicians -- wish I had a spell checker for this)

here's a report sample on healthcare:

"Hospitals, laboratories, and clinics/physicians increased their ranking the most since the last Rx2000 Solutions Institute survey, conducted in spring 1999. Hospitals ranked highest in readiness at 55.4, posting a 21-percent increase in total Y2K readiness ranking; laboratories increased their total readiness by 19 percent to 49.3, and clinics/physicians increased their total readiness ranking by 18 percent to 49.3. Other organizations either experienced a moderate increase in Y2K readiness or a very slight decline. The most dramatic decline was in the readiness of end stage renal dialysis (ESRD) facilities, whose ranking dropped to 47.1 -- 14 percent lower than the spring 1999 ranking. However, the ESRD sample was very small this past quarter, with only 12 organizations reporting".

Had that check-up yet?

That particular Senate Report was the most obvious publicity stunt I've seen to date. Note this concluding reports over all "Happy message, why by golly we made it!" They named nations known not to be compliant in the oil production as "AOK!"

The report is 100% bogus.

Not surprisingly within a few days "small business are now 91% complaint." Did you catch that latest article?

The articles are now coming in 100% bogus.

It must be getting awfully dangerous out there. Uncle Sam doesn't want a creature to move right now-not even a mouse.

Only 12 reported? How can you even figure national numbers with only 12 out of thousands?
