Hi,

Just searched around for anything on this and only found a site that is going to have a Y2K chat coming up regarding this very report of which you mention http://www.tir.com/~bretzke/free.html

If this is something BIG, please e-mail me about it at ludi@rollin.com

Thanks!

Here ya go. You can find the original thread on csy2k. As to blowing the lid off,well- it certainly is another hint that all is not well. Cheers, AGF

Title: "ECT: Many delays caused by domino-effect"

note: first time I saw the use of the term 'domino-effect' in my paper.

---partial translation--- ECT, the largest container-terminal in Rotterdam (largest harbour in the world) says it has serious problems, leading to delays in the handling of containers.

According to ECT the problems are being caused by a number of factors. One of these factors is that they have a remarkably high amount of computer-errors after they upgraded certain components.

To put an end to the computer-glitches, ECT has formed an emergency team, that is battling the IT-problems with the highest priority. ECT also noticed that more and more carriers (ships) are arriving too late in the harbour. ECT cannot explain this. ---end---

What I know about this company: They actually started their Y2K remediation program this year (1999)! And the initial budget was (don't laugh) $1.000.000

I know the guy who managed the program and he told me 4 months ago that ECT was 100% ready...

The report is not on this site but there is this little snippet

  Rotterdam Report Y2k

A highly respected group of independent scientists are scheduled to release a report addressing what the Y2k bug will do to PCs. This pending release has been coined the "Rotterdam Report". Information leaking out of Rotterdam suggests their scientifically validated predictions may rock the computer world.

The "Rotterdam Report" will confirm a theory presented to the Royal Society in England on October 5, 1999 indicating the Y2k problem in PCs is much worse than expected.
