Second Notice: Second and Last Aladdin Lamp Cooperative Buy

This is your last chance to get in on a cooperative buy on Aladdin lamps, parts, and accessories that I will coordinate on behalf of the Yourdon forum. The tall aluminum Aladdin lamps are no longer available. However, prices for other lamps have been reduced.

The minimum number of total kerosene lamp units that need to be ordered is five. Those interested in either lamps, parts, or lamps with shades should email me at faryna@groupmail.com. After much bickering, I think I have been able to get decent prices for us. Some prices, however, are not as good as they were for the first order. You be the judge. I will need to receive payment for lamps, parts, and/or lamps with shades by no later than November 23rd, 1999. I expect to begin shipping out the orders on November 30th, 1999. Again, send me email for details.

Thanks Stan,

Already have the glass (breakable) kind, and one extra wick. What am I missing?

Diane,

I recommend a bug screen and more mantles. Once you have burned off the protective glaze on the mantle (prior to having it lit in the lamp), the mantle is extremely very fragile. So if you find yourself moving it around or knock it with the chimney, there goes a mantle. A flying bug can wreck a mantle too. Generally, four mantles is a good number to start with. Now, if I remember correctly, the Genie II lamp requires unscrewing the oil burner from the font to refuel it.

Be very careful with your mantles when removing the oil burner, etc.

Sincerely, Stan Faryna

Already cracked that glass chimney once screwing it on wrong and had to buy a new one.

Grrr.

Got candles?

Will discuss this topic this weekend with ya, Stan.

Thanks.

I busted my first chimney putting it on too, fortunately the hardware store where we bought the lamp replaced the chimney. I then took a pliers to the brass "bayonette" lips and adjusted them to prevent them from pinching the glass flanges.
