The vast majority of Americans would agree, unfortunately it isn't done so to infiltrate and use the U.N. to the American advantage. Don't you recall the exposure of UNSCUM personnel in IRAQ turning out to be the C.I.A. assets under cover? I would most sincerely would like an end to the U.N. I'd like to see it dissolved.

About Y2K? I'd hazard a guess you've been nipped by the Fed spin, a spin that was well publicized would be in effect, especially at this time. Ignore that spin. Stop hanging on to every word spoken when you know better. I'd also have to assume the spin at this stage is more spoken for the ears of enemies to hear than Americans. I think Bill Clinton made his comments for China and North Korea to overhear.

When I was a small child the Vietnam war was "on." One could not critize the government. If one spoke about the government or the war it was often done in whispers. This nation during one war removed all its Japanese citizens to internment camps.

If the USA officially declares war on a nation which involves Congress passing that declaration, it is a form of martial law also on the domestic population. Heavy weight and hard hitting controls clamp down on free speech especially. The government can lock anyone up it feels is a risk to security. It can also say anything it darn wants. It can lie through its teeth without any reprecussions.

If you recall many urged the USA to officially declare "war" on the broken code crises. Many also urged last year the nation be placed in an emergency status. To a large degree I think it is. Something was passed silently in the night I suspect in late 1997 or early 1998, because if you recall the White House Council immediately was empowered with the right to black out news. It was empowered to go forth with a spin. (A spin is a lie put forth as truth.) It was given the right to outright lie to the American people. It is my own opinion the Senate reports and hearings have been a publicity stunt. The reports especially took one on a path. One climbs this hill, never totally perfect because that would be really fishy, but slowly this or that by magic has been dealt with, and thus we now enter this so called "few minor bumps." It's all bogus.

What is out there is no coincidence such as AT & T spending years and endless millions to hopefully now have functioning domestic phone service. AT & T wouldn't have been given that choice because it is heavily weaved into national defense. It and DoD have a long and oddly abrasive relationship.

Out in Asia if you recall recently the military did a "Y2K test." That was not a "Y2K test." That was a high profile show in which a laser message was sent to China and North Korea. One needs to be careful not to read the word "Y2K" and take it all so seriously. The military wasn't talking to "you" symbolically put. It was talking to other nations.

Enemies are very real out there and most nations are not going to stand before the t.v. cameras, and say, "And our grids are going down, we won't see any missiles coming our way, our whole military is disabled, no one invest here cuz it's a bunch of bank failures coming, and all our people will be rioting and converting sports arenas into the Thunderdome to kill all present government officials such as myself. So you all better prepare with some beans and rice!"

The appropriate representatives of this nation told China if it invades Taiwan the nation will take military action. That is the USA (Not UN peace troops) going into a full scale war against China. It has also stated its displeasure with North Korea. It's watching the relationship between Pakistan and India very carefully and quietly because those two could really break out in nuclear war. The wind does blow our way. I'm talking about really scary events that could happen and Y2K as the Naval War College stated, said nation to nation aggression could happen as each perceives the other weak. There are tremendous earthquakes happening under our Y2Ker feet.

In addition, the C.I.A. had come forward and stated the cyber terrorism had arrived. Thus we are not "waiting" for this event. You know by the articles talking about "waiting" and "it could happen" are outright lies. The C.I.A. spoke and clued the populace in discreetly and only one time that I am aware of. It was one quick mention and it clammed up. That news should have alerted one that national security was involved and handling such threats goes into the Twilight Zone. So once again it isn't "you" being addressed and spoken to as representatives of the nation speak.

So when you think about it, it isn't just an earthquake happening under our feet, but The L.A. Big One. Don't worry about feeling like a fool with preps as all this spin is put forth. What is important is to handle your life and choices as you see fit to do so. If you felt based on information it was pertinant to prepare for a long winter than hang onto that. Stick to your guns.

I am prepared. This was my choice. I haven't any regrets. It was my own conclusion, right or wrong, after reviewing the information that to not be prepared was the most potentially deadly gamble life had thrown my way. I also know enough about Uncle Sam to know that when it clams up, starts the spins, and disinformation the situation is often deadly and all about national security. The quieter and more lacking in leadership it becomes is a measure of how dangerous a crises has developed.

The last time I saw "lack of leadership" was when India and Pakistan were having a skirmish, Bill Clinton went and played golf, none of the media was reporting on the crises, and India later said had the USA not intervened they really would have gone into a nuclear war.

"Sorry I am frusterated. Why am i frusterated? "

Perhaps because you are a witless, illiterate, mouth-breathing, paranoid Tinfoil. Get some clinical help and then go back to school

So, Billary was lying about y2k, not to the American people, but to the Koreans...?

I guess it's a good thing that no one in Korea knows about the internet, where info on y2k (such as this dicussion board) is readily available.

Excellent Post IMHO. History, Politics, Technology, Foreign and Domestic Policy, Political Sociology, all mixed in with excellent common sense and advice for insuring against risk. Paula, have you tried finding those baby pickled corn things on-line?

Paula,

What the hell do you mean when you say no one was allowed to talk about the Viet Nam War or the govt.? I was a teen then. There was demonstration after demonstration during that sad time. AND, we ALL discussed it quite openly. I don't remember being afraid or ever feeling that I didn't have the right to discuss it. Sheesh!
