Clinton is a big ole story teller....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Do you believe this? Clinton on Nov. 10th said, "I expect we will experience no major national breakdowns as a result of the year 2000 date change." Wasn't this the same man that stated, under oath, "I did not have sex with "that" woman!" In this wonderful country of ours I think I will wait and see what Oprah comes up with....What do you think? Do you feel reassured? What will you be doing the first couple of weeks of Y2K?

Yeah, we know, we know... ad nauseum...

We heard this yesterday on about three different threads... as I was rushing to the grocery store, I slipped on some oil in the parking lot and fell right on my story teller. Won't be able to sit right for a week.

Note the word national. You must watch slick's words very closely.

Clinton, with his well-known penchant for lying , may have inadvertantly begun a mass-move towards preparing.

After his speech this week on Y2K "readiness", several DWGI's that I know personally, have said they now believe we are in big trouble, and are stocking up this weekend. They believe he lies about EVERYTHING, and assume the opposite of what he says publicly.

Kindof a wierd reverse-clintonology.

INVAR...

.....How you seem to say the same thing I'm thinking is beyond me. I've always tried to tell folks that if they watch tv and read the papers, then believe the exact opposite of the assertions put forth, they'll be a whole lot closer to the truth.

.....How have you been, 'ol buddy?

No major national breakdowns doesn't rule out ...

Major local breakdowns, everywhere Minor local breakdowns

Come to think of it, exactly what "national" systems are there. Power is regional Telcoms are regional Banks are regional and interrelated Water, sanitation, railroads are regional.

So I guess all of those could fail and we could still have "no major national breakdowns."

Anyone else read it this way?

Yep,

When I saw the headlines: President says lights will stay on, I told wifey, "We're toast. It's going down."

got wood?

"It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'we' is." :)

Thanks for asking Patrick. I be jes fine at the mo', living a life and celebrating my youngest's 7th birthday.

Yes, some of us doomers do still live a life while preparing, not many of us hiding in bunkers with AK's at the ready.

In regards to our 'fearless' leader, who I think is a national disgrace to the veterans by spouting all that vile "I love you guys" bullshit - especially after writing that letter in 1969 to Col. Eugene Holmes, wherein he decried the military and said he "loathed it" with all his being - I think many Americans that held their silence and judgement on him, KNOW what he's about deep-down. A habitual liar, bordering on sociopathic. Doing all he does for HIS own benefit, politically and financially.

I think some of the public at-large that does some additional reading besides listening to the evening news, is tired of having to parse EVERY SINGLE DAMN WORD THIS BUM UTTERS. I think many now have learned that the Truth is usually the opposite of what he says it is, so that when it comes to Y2K, and Clinton says "all fine here now....were all fine"...they are pretty sure it will be the opposite of what he says.

I know many have been mesmerized by his emotional rhetoric and vile charm, but the luster may have worn off for some.

And Patrick, the reason I'm saying the same thing you're thinking is simply this: great minds think alike. :-)

INVAR...

.....Well wish your little girl a very happy birthday for me...

.....Most folks don't pay close enough attention to our "public servants," (hate to think of them as -leaders-), to look for the kind of information that Colonel Holmes had to offer, combine that with the whores we call media in this once-great country and it's no wonder they think everything is alright.

.....I'm not a "doomer" per se... although I'm hoping for the system to come undone, I don't hope for such out of a sense of malice or anything of the sort. I have hope that once we get on the other side of the "tzursis" that we can get back to righteousness. We used to purge the wickedness out of this land, and that's the reason why we were able to be the land of the "unwalled cities" - so to speak. I'm sure you recognize the context. Since we stopped doing so, then we suffer the judgement that they were to get.

.....Come what may, but come quickly King Yeshua.

Bubba and the group

Is he lying? Why of course. Now we have confirmation that the preparations we've made are the right thing to do. But are you prepared spritually? Could you bounce back if after all your efforts you lost your stuff, or worse your family. We all are so used the good life here in western world. I had a fit when I first learned about y2k. I was angry with God. How could he do this to me, just when my new business was begining to reward me. I had to change course and go into survial mode, what a bummer. If it's a 10 and I believe it will be, are you going to try and get through it in your own strength? It's time to get right with Jesus Christ. You don't have to do this on your own.

is he preparing???

he doesn't have to prepare. security for example... as commander in chief of the armed forces he has the entire military at his command. why in hell should he be concerned about security. (this doesn't even count the secret service) please note that he is a strong advocate of abolition of private ownership of weapons... handgun control inc. etc. he doesn't feel that the rest of "us americans" are entitled to be as secure as he is.. which, by the way, is impossible.

food... he has all the food that is available to the military which includes mine if he declares he (or anyone else) needs it.

shelter... if all hell broke loose... he could be at norad headquarters or the bunkers in berryville. a short helicopter ride or flight on air force 1. (w/ f16 escorts)

hell no HE ain't preparing...

Yes, INVAR, I agree with you completly. I feel that Slick is INCAPABLE of telling the truth, AT ALL! He is a traitor. A few people have noticed this and have decided to do something but most are still asleep, and will remain so... Good luck to you, my friend, and happy birthday to your child!
