If you want a private y2k chat forum.

I can probably arrange it. I could set up actual user accounts that have passwords and user names on my MUDD and then make an area that is only accessible to GROUP approved users. In otherwords the community would vote on who would be allowed access to that area. I do operate a MUDD which you can check out. If the service gets hit really heavy I might have to charge a fee. Anyway I have the skills necessary to set such a thing up. I just don't really have enough bandwidth to support it for free if there are a lot (say more than 10 or 20 users) at a time. If you folks want it send me mail. I will think it over and we can also discuss it on this thread. I need to go home now though. Will check this tomorrow morning.

For a fee?

PASS...

Understandable on the PASS. A fee would be necessary if a large number of people were interested... Tell you what we can do it this way... Diane, I'll take the first 12 you approve -- FREE. At that point I will lock it down and that will be it. If one of the is a programmer I'll talk with them about setting their programmer bit and allowing you folks to maintain your own thing... There can be only twelve...

Only if we can call it something like the "Y2k Apostle Forum"...

Mike, did you ever give your opinion on the traffic that hit your web page the other day?

Michael,

There are a couple chats already ongoing... free.

Yes; I understand there a couple for free. Last night I checked out one of them. On the first pass I misunderstood what I found there and thought people weren't happy with some of the chatter. I wanted to offer another place, less wide open. I went back later and it was quite pleasent so I think my idea was premature. I really don't have enough bandwidth (56k is all) and can't afford more. That was all that was intended by the 'might have to charge a fee' statement. It is better to leave things as they are. Consider it just a bad solution to a non-problem.

Yes, I did post a final on that thread. Saturday night actually. I don't think anyone has posted any follow ups since then.

I am still working on the MUDD and hopefully it will be ready to accept multiple guest users in a few days. I may also go ahead and set up an IRC server on that box. If I do, I'll post the address for all to use (no charge).

Big Dog, was not trying to go into competetion with you. Sorry if I offended.
