From the MSNBC website: NOTICE THE USE OF WORDS????!! Kind of ironic---they promised us this wouldn't happen.

"18 die in Mexico air crash Jetliner goes down over mountainous central Mexico ASSOCIATED PRESS MEXICO CITY, Nov. 10 A DC-9 jetliner that had dropped off most of its passengers FELL FROM THE SKY in central Mexico, killing 18 people left on board, authorities said."

I think it is twisted logic to think that y2k will cause planes to fall from the sky, when the situation is really that y2k will do nothing to prevent planes from continuing to fall from the sky...

Oh my god.

The plane's that are blowing up and or falling from the sky ARE NOT related to any terrorist acts. This is just a coincidence. Remember planes always fall from the sky. The military being obsessed with terrorism by non-state actors is also a coincidence. Don't even try to add the talks about Bio/chem terrorist attack. There is nothing and I mean NOTHING to be concerned about. Don't panic. We have top people on this, really I mean this.

I'm sure these planes were all built the Monday after the Superbowl. The question asked in the military think tanks is not if its when...

Mexican airplane crashes, killing all 18 aboard

Firefighters examine debris from the Mexican DC-9 jetliner that apparently exploded just after takeoff Tuesday

MEXICO CITY (CNN) -- A Mexican plane crashed shortly after takeoff on Tuesday in a mountainous region of central Mexico, killing all 18 people aboard.

Witnesses on the ground said they saw a bright flash of light in the sky, followed by an explosion.

TAESA Flight 725 went down about five minutes after taking off from the town of Uruapan in the state of Michoacan around 7 p.m. (8 p.m. EST) en route to Mexico City. The crash site is about 180 miles west of Mexico City.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The DC-9 was carrying 13 passengers and five crew members when it burst into a ball of fire. It had originated in Tijuana with 91 passengers, went to Guadalajara and then to Urupuan, with most of the passengers disembarking along the way.

Inspector Juan Alfonso Lara of the state civil protection agency said debris fell in the mountains six miles southwest of Uruapan.

Lara said rescue crews were in the area, but there was no chance of finding survivors from the plane. "It was completely destroyed," he said. At the airport in Mexico City, relatives of those aboard the plane hugged each other and tried to console each other. TAESA was founded in 1988 as an air taxi and expanded to commercial operations in 1991, using low cost fares to challenge established Mexican carriers. Uruapan, a city of 250,000 dating back to the 16th century, is known for its avocado production. Tourists frequently stay there when visiting the Paricutin volcano, 20 miles to the west. The volcano is famous for having risen from a c

Thanks for the info. FYI, I emphatically do not believe Y2k was the issue here I was just trying to get more info. I said coincidence, and I meant it. I would like to see statistics on the # of accidents this year vs. prior years. It just seems like alot of planes/helo's recently are experiencing difficulty, whether it be technical or something else. I am just concerned, two people I love dearly are flight attendants for United. I have a heightened sense of awareness and concern because of this.
