What is Rick Cowles saying about the latest Gary North storygreenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I know that Rick moved his site but I lost his new URL. I would like to know if anyone on that forum is responding to the North story.

Basically, Rick's not buying it, nor would anyone else who has worked on Y2K in the electric utility industry. I believe that most of you are too smart to have your chains yanked by such stuff. My "official" reply to the post on North's website is at:

This is at least one of Rick's responses from his utility forum:"I caution all of you to remember several previous FOAF (friend of a friend) and anonymous "reports" that have been circulated over the past year or so. Many have turned out to be either false, misinterpretations, or outright hoaxes.
Personally, I view the referenced Gary North article with the same skepticism that I view every other anonymous report, good or bad. I do not know who the author is. I do not know who the friends are. I do not know who the CEO is. How can anyone possibly assess credibility in the absence of at least some of this key information? Short answer: you can't.
I'm a cautious guy by nature, particularly when something as wild as this article is placed in circulation. Unless and until someone can provide a lot more "credibility enhancing" source information, my suggestion is to place this one in the recycle folder.

Sounds like Rick is turning Polly. How sad. He's not one of us anymore.
