Seems to be heating up altho there is less consensus than ever. Pollies more pollyannaish, Doomers more doomerish.

That's a trend I'd expect to see continue right up to rollover, when it will take on absolutely baroque attributes. In a surreal environment, pollies will chortle and giggle and haul out a million saved quotes about thousands dead and cities in flames.

Doomers, on the other hand, will seize every page 10 news clip about a air conditioning system failing in a chicken processing factory in Mississippi and proclaim that the lid's about to come off and that the mysterious powers that be and the cigarette smoking man can't keep these failures a secret any more, and the sheeple will riot.

And on we go - until we realize that the whole purpose of this forum is to give doomers and pollies a safe place to growl at each other without the unpleasant distraction of actually doing it in person.
