I'm in the process of gathering information for painting an ACL R-1 (Overland). Does anyone have any idea where I could find a color photo,slide, or video of an R-1 (4-8-4)? No one seems to have ever seen one in color. I have the original Baldwin Paint specs as well as the recent Lines South article, but it still leaves alot regarding the color of the boiler jacket, cab roof, sides, and tender above the aluminum stripe. Don, I have a copy of the Baldwin painting, numbering and lettering specifications for the R-1 which I would be glad to share with you. There are several references to other documents of which I am not in possession, and so may not be a complete "blueprint" but may help.

Contact Ron Dettmer for info. He just finished scratch building 3 R- 1s. I think he told me there is no color photo that he has ever seen but he can give you advice. His email is Roscaler@cs.com.
