How is your state's new system? Montana's is AFU

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

It only affects less than a million people directly, but Montana's system so bad and buggy that its vendors and contractors are quitting due to chronic non-payment and many workers are not getting paid or getting paid the wrong amount. A real quagmire. Any other states out there besides Florida, California and the other high impact states who are having problems with their new systems?

Don't worry, just go back to sleep. Everything will be fine. We're working on it, OK? Lots of time left.

Please be specific. What "system" do you refer to? Is it the vehicles registry, or welfare, or what? I knew the guvmint would get back at you folks for harboring the notorious "Montana Militia"!

Well, let's see. i live in Billings. the largest "city" in Montana. In the past few months, the fire chief, Public works Director, Etc, etc, etc, have resigned for ...and i quote.."Personal Reasons".

All of them.

Kinda Scary.

The system is a Peoplesoft implementation, and is called "Montana Prime". It is set up to do the state's day-to-day internal business administration, replacing a much older set of mainframe applications.

My aunt, who works as an administrator for a state agency in Helena, has decided to retire two years early, rather than continue to put up with the incredible hassles now involved in getting her work done.

She could see it all coming two and three years ago, after the initial Peoplesoft implementations failed miserably. But Y2K forced the state's hand when there was no time left to even think about fixing the existing systems.
