Is there such a thing as a deep well pitcher pump?

No, that would be a contradiction of terms. A pitcher pump is a shallow well pump in which the pumping action is accomplished by sucking from above. Deep well pumps are pumped by pushing the water up from below the static water level.

I've even heard well drillers refer to deep well pumps as pitcher pumps, but they aren't being accurate.
