Good reading, A suggestion however. Change the font colors. Too hard to read on the opening pages....

Bang the gong slowly...

I couldn't get most of the links to work using MS IE 5, but I found alarming your Y2K-Near Future commentary regarding bank runs starting on Pearl Harbor Day and a massive stock crash several days later.

Tin soldiers and Nixon comming...

Four dead in Ohio...

I have to ask a question here, and hate to show my ingnorance. The author of that site said, they call him Oni One Kanobe. I heard that name used the other day on tv. Used like, "Just call me Oni One Kanobe." Who is/was Oni One Kanobe? I am guessing a literary character. Hated it when my boy turned to me and asked who it was and I didn't know.

Homestead, you and your son should be ashamed of yourselves. Everybody knows that Oni One Kanobi is the starting tight end for the Detroit Lions.

I don't think it will pan out like that. It's worth noting that the Naval War College predictions for Y2K have thus far been in error. For instance the "mania" was in the fall of 1998 not the summer and fall of 1999. The obvious reason being that the Naval War College was so accurate governments were able to be on top of the populace movement, and in the case of the USA, Canada, and UK deliberately instigated a panic in 1998 so the heavy hitters would be off the scene come 1999.

The ole "gobmint" might have a few more tricks up its sleeve to manipulate behavior. It's doing a lousy job of reaching its senior citizens. They especially seem to be confused and are interpreting having an emergency kit, and "everything is AOK," as doom of the banks. They especially should have been reached as much as possible with the idea of a small kit because they often have special diets. One might not be able to help them. A slice of SPAM given to an elderly person who must be 100% salt free and bland isn't going to save the day. They required strong leadership to get them activated to make speciality needs kits and not fuss about the banks, and certainly the Gray Panthers Club failed them at a crucial time and would have, could have, made a dent. The elderly are very aware that due to the Republicans a hate-your-elderly-for S.S. benefits has been building up in the USA, and I suspect feel too alone, too isolated, and are taking incorrect information in a desperation to literally survive. They also fear if there are 10 people and one apple no one is going to pick "the old" to have the apple it'll go to the "young and strong." The "for the greater good" won't include themselves. If the "gobmint" doesn't address those fears more directly a deeper run might happen. The seniors are just too confused about it all and the banks PR's just don't get it, the fear is more of that apple never going their way in a society that increasingly hates them.

I do think we might be in for a "day before the storm" spree, the reaosn being that it seems to be as a fact. They are a tiny minority that no one can cure of that habit. Unless the "gobmint" has a good trick up its sleeve this time like delaying some news and quietly bringing down control.

A number of people aren't preparing because they have been given invitations by those who are preparing. My brother comes to mind. His wife invited her sister plus hubbie to come on up to their place. He wasn't happy about that but at least his wife suddenly became interested his preps. I had given an open invitation to a young adult nephew. That is 3 who won't be prepared or in a panic.

Oni One kanobi is the slang name for cryptorchidism. I think I spelled it right...

-- Mr. Mike (mikeabn@aol.com), November 07, 1999.

Gary,

I really "enjoyed" your Y2K scenario, but I am wondering about your Celebrity Death Predictions. Did Dale Evans really die on Oct 28, 1999 as you predicted? Perhaps she did, but I hadn't heard.

Wow, Chowbabe, I never knew till now that I hated the elderly. And to think that I have been the person pushing my small town to make arrangements to care for all of them if the power goes out......

Mr Mike: HEE HEE!! LOL!!! Then I guess my Chihuahua, who suffered from cryptorchidism before he was neutered should be called Obi Wan instead of Buddy, huh?

BTW, is ANYONE going to tell this guy who Obi Wan Kenobi (sp?) is? The Jedi master who trained Luke in Star Wars....

Sorry folks. The site is a work in progress and an experiment in combining art, sounds and content. Most of the 'Near Future' sections have been started but due to time restraints, I can only add to it when I have some spare moments. Unfortunately it is designed for fast connections and Pentium 120's or higher, although as you return to the pages, if you have a slower computer, you'll eventually see the art materialize.

Just thought I'd share my project with you on a slow Sunday after you've caught up on the latest Y2K news. The dead links now go to a 'page in construction' type message. I let the structure of the site get ahead of content mainly because I never intended for it to go public till much later.

Oh yeah, on the Celebrity Death predictions, I'll probably delete the section if they don't come true. Actually, I'll probably delete the section even if they do come true as well. It's a bit morbid.

Sorry folks. The site is a work in progress and an experimental project combining art and sound with content. Most of the 'Near Future' sections have been started ONLY but as time becomes available, I'll be adding more.

The site was designed for Pentium 120's or higher with a fast connect. Although the art will take a while to download, eventually those with slower systems will see it appear as they return to the pages.

For the dead links, I've added an 'in construction' type message page until I get around to doing them.

As for the Celebrity Death section, I'll probably delete that after a while. It's a bit morbid, especially if they come true.

Pop in once in a while as the site develops. Thanks to all for your input.

Gary

I found your info. very 'ho-hum' and lightweight. Your guess is as good as mine, I suppose. And visa versa
