OT sort of --Microsoft announcement re monopoly

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

4:00 pm pdt. Check out CNN or an on-line news site. Microsoft is not going to come out of this very well. Stock is down 2pts in after-hours trading. I expect this will be dragged through the courts for a long while, but at least they are being called on their monopolistic practices.

MSFT Down 2 13/16 at 7:00 P.M. Friday. Not sure they had this in mind when they made it part of the DOW.

For those of us who understand the psychology of the markets at manic peaks, this comes as no surprise. The DJIA got loaded with a Trojan Horse this week, and it is going to bring things down.

Bob Prechter said last week that historically, switching horses in mid-stream(changing the DJIA components)has historically proved to do NOTHING to add to the DJIA's appeal. That is because the DJIA IS the market for most people, and so the Elliott waves are the clearest to define because it encompasses tens of millions of people's psychology.

I'm not even going to give anything away from that site...I warned throughout the past few weeks that a very clear pattern is developing, and has SPECIFIC down-side targets.

In case you're wondering , if you can find my fairly recent posts, why we have not yet slid to the numbers I gave, it is because I cannot give ALL the info as it is a pay site. But suffice to say that the "marking time" pattern IS ending ,and we will see those downside targets very soon. To come within a few points of a .618 retracement just shows the incredible power of Fibonnaci ratios.

Looks like the DJIA got itself a dog with fleas.

"Not sure they had this in mind when they made it part of the DOW."

That's quite interesting. I'm not sure what to say about this comment, but it is quite interesting. Let me sleep on it... 'til Monday 'bout 4:00 PM, when the DOW closes... <:)=

Verrrry interesting...

Rumors of Microsoft's demise are premature.

Only a fool would expect them to shrug shoulders, bend over, grab ankles, and sigh "whatever..."

It's a given that it will go into immediate appeal, and remember, they've had pretty good luck appealing Lord Penfeld Jackson's various and sundry decrees *during* the witch hunt.

And, I'd be surprised and-a-half if they don't take *proactive* -- aggressively so -- steps to fight back. They can afford the best lawyers, and they're finally wising up to How Government Is Bought. (When this joke started, it started in large part because the Sunscape minions *did* indeed know how to wisely purchase the government, and MS was content to stay in their cubicles in WA.)

But to all you Renoizers our there -- many of whom seem to be gloating via post here tonight, hey, more power to you. I guess we can all agree with her grinning sidekick's proclaimation that no one is above the law in this country.

All *I* want to know is when did that new policy get instituted, and when will it be applied to PA AVE?

Ron,

FYI it won't go into appeal yet, this is a finding of fact only, (i.e. what the judge believes were the facts of the case). The judgment will come later.

Sysman, it's only moderately interesting, those of us who were paying attention ;-) expected this for a long time.

Oh and the reason the judge released his findings on a friday was so that if micro$oft shares go down, hopefully the market will have had sufficient time to consider and it won't affect the DJIA too much.

Watch companies like Corel, Compaq and Redhat now. They should benefit from this.
