I've attempted to email directly to [polly] posters many times regarding posts made on this forum; have never 'gotten thru' once without receiving a FAILURE NOTICE that the mail wouldn't go thru.

If anything undermines the position of someone whose address is fake .. it's posting messages on here with a fake email address. (Though I can understand someone ocassionally using an alias email address if they're trying to protect something).

This forum, unfortunately, is being littered with people who absolutely HATE the idea that their world is possibly about to come crashing down around them. And they hate the messengers who bring everyone this message. This trend seems to be accelerating. Must be the old "doomers are going to cause all the problems" philosophy I guess.

After visiting this forum for over a year, it's - for lack of a better word - interesting to see how the posts have changed. I personally believe that 'Preparers' are being set up by certain interests for exploitation after TSHTF.

I receive 2-4 junk emails a day, mostly get rich quick schemes. I delete them, takes about 3 seconds. This doesn't strike me as a very high price to pay for the reward of receiving quite a few genuine emails from people worth talking to. My case may be unusual, but I don't see any particular reason it should be.

You know I'm not a polly. Do you think this name and address are real? The address explains why. A great many on the will-probably-be-problems side of the issue don't use their real names and addresses--it's not just the pollys.

Like Flint, I just throw the spam away. It runs about 1% of the time I spend on e-mail (about 2-4 minutes a day [yeah, do the math. if it were snail mail my letter carrier would be demanding I get an industrial box!])

I'm not so sure that I'm a "polly," like you say, but no, I certainly don't think the world is coming crashing down around us. I do expect some pretty comprehensive economic problems related to international supply chains, etc. but I don't expect that my wife and I will freeze, or starve, or have to buy a gun to protect the house we just bought 6 months ago. I'm also a PC technician who has worked on a desktop Y2K remediation project for the last year, so I definitely have delved into this issue for some time. I understand your comment about putting your real e-mail address in instead of a fake one, or rather, some folks reluctance to do so. Some people on this forum are certainly more than ready to give you a type-written ass kicking if your views don't jive with theirs.

One other thing to add here, by the way: my opinion is like everyone else's on this forum-just an opinion!! I don't claim to be an expert on this issue. I take alot of what I read here with a grain of salt, and I expect that the few times I've posted stuff, readers have taken mine with a grain of salt as well. There are no experts here on this forum about Y2K, just conjecture with differing levels of education and experience to back up that conjecture.

lol: after re-reading my post, perhaps my comment wasnt stated exactly right. its not so easy to put one's thoughts in writing so it comes out exactly as it is in ones head.

while i would sure like to see things change in a big way from the world's current 'system' .. i absolutely don't want to see the world come crashing down around me. i have a good job (in the IT industy), send kids off to a private school each day, pay my bills regularly .. all in all, life aint bad.

I have used several email addresses on this forum, all of them valid. The only one that receives an excessive amount of spam is a hotmail address, and I was receiving spam on that one before I started posting on this forum.

Can't you see how important it is that no one knows who they are?

Picture this: Y2K is just a BITR. There will be many people on this forum who had preached doomerism and are now posting how happy they are to have been wrong. I look like a fool? Who cares? I'm just happy to be alive. You can see this? no? Quite possible.

But can you picture this?: TSHTF and bad. Someone has begged a meal from you. As you sit around a campfire with your rice and beans this person mentions that he/she use to be a polly and did everything they could to talk others out of preparing. Can you really imagine such a scenerio? I think it's obvious why they prefer to remain anonymous

andyman633@hotmail.com is a valid email address - has been from the very start. So is iamsorryandyray@hotmail.com< /a>, just in case any doomers wish to attempt to beg their way off the "Stupid Doomer Quotes" page due to be deployed 000103.

I have responded to many emails received as a result of posting here. Most have been concerned people wishing a more balanced opinion of the possibilities, which I have graciously and courteously provided. It was an honor and privilege to do so. ;)

Maybe there's some special anti-spam magic, in having the same vowel repeat 3 times in your name, but I have received exactly 5 pieces of Spam, in the four+ months that I have beem posting here, using this e-mail address...hardly an overload.

Maybe you should reconsider your post and do a little back-pedalling? If only people who use real e-mail addresses can be trusted, that means that there's maybe 15 regular posters on the forum, from either side, to pay attention to. If you knock out the people who use so called "anonymous" e-mail addresses (Hotmail, Deja, etc), the number drops to a handful. And that handful is on both sides of the issue. Mr. Decker, provides a handy example...Oooops
