The next effort against government ineptitude. Smog inspection equipment and inspectors that function

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Now we need to get on the case of the State Inspection equipment because it DOESN'T function properly.

People in this state are paying millions of dollars every year to have their smog control devices repaired WHEN THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM.

Take the test, spend the extra money and get your vehicle checked at two different stations. They will be different. Ours flunked at one, we got the vehicle adjusted and it read perfect. We went back to the inspection station and it was worse than before. We went to a different station and it passed with flying colors....

Kinda like the parking meters. Just wondering what other things we have to pay for in this state that don't work?

Ed - got a parking ticket once. The meter had a City of Seattle "out of order" bag on it. Chased down the metermaid. Called her supervisor. Drove back to the meter. The metermaid said she looked at the bag, thought I had put it there. Never bothered to check it. Supervisor tore up the ticket.

Just a tip that may save you some of this irritation. Next time before you get your car sniffed, have a oil and filter change the day before and make sure the car is warmed up by driving at least 10 miles on the freeway. Dirty oil is the biggest cause of emission failure and in most cases when your car fails, a simple oil change will solve the problem. As far as the inspections changes, we should privatize them and allow the repairshops to be certified and eliminate this process too.
