Fox 4 WDAF-TV Kansas City, MO 9:00pm newscast

Reporter: Mark Alford

In one of the many underground storage caves located in Kansas City, one enterprising individual has converted space into a "Y2k" bunker, in an attempt to show people that they can have the comforts they enjoy now if the power goes off. Note: this particular underground cave is about 2 blocks from the television station, and is maybe a mile ~ mile and a half from downown KCMO.

This person has a video production company that is located in the cave, and evidently has converted part of it into living quarters, complete with a toilet (composting?) water, stove, sleeping area, living areas, and a WELL stocked pantry. Gave a demonstration of what looked to be a generator rigged from a bicycle.

The guy said he wasn't one of the 'bad' survivalists...whatever *that* is, huh? (He clarified that he doesn't wear camo, etc....sheesh). He has been living her for several months (thought I heard 6 months, might be mistaken).

This guy sells a $30 video on how to rig everyday equipment to be Y2k ready...The reporter asked him how he felt about some people saying that he was cashing in on the y2k 'craze' to make money; the guy answered by saying all he is selling is information.

I'll bet he's not the first or only person to convert part of their space in the caves into living quarters.

If he wants to get prepared for the worst, he should ask Bruce Wayne about all the cool tech stuff in the Batcave.
