save money with 2 years tabs.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Why not implement 2 year vehicle tabs like they do in other states. It appears to work fine in those states why are we so unique? Imagine saving 1/2 the postage, paperwork, & processing time by only having to do 1/2 the tabs each year. I realise this would cut some jobs, but these are strictly jobs created by government & paid for directly by taxpayers.

Excellent idea! This year I moved from Oregon, where they do practice the 2 year time period for car licenses. Going to the DEQ every two years did save on my time and the states time. This could be a follow up issue to put on the next ballot.

In addition, since the emission test is required every two years, this idea would seem to work perfectly. Maybe it's too simple a solution.... I'm betting the pols will want to fund some type of feasibility study first.... That stud would conclude the two year tabs is in fact a good idea, then the pols will vote just the opposite!

Actually, this is ONLY FEASIBLE post-695. Ponying up $60 is do-able for most people. Doubling the pre-695 MVET would have made the MVET even more outrageous than it already was, even if it only had to be paid half as often. Of course the first two years would have been at the MSRP...........
