Paula Gordon's Comments Re: Clinton

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I was checking out Russ Kelly's Ask the Experts update today. Did anybody else read Paula Gordon's comments? (Sorry I can't hotlink) www.russkelly.com/experts.html Under her "statement from Paula" and "New Comments for November"; she depicts Clinton being out of touch with what is going on, even more than she imagined. Cory has an interesting update for November, too.

Yes, I just saw that. Cory, the optimist...very sobering, his response.

Never blame inaction on th work of conspiracy when simple stupidity, intellectual laziness is all that is needed to explain the inexplicable. Would love to see what the history books of the mid 21st century have to say about this era.

Clinton must be out of touch. I can't see him facing us with something this big on his mind and not cringing. Never mind the Monica silliness. This is a real thing and BIG.

It was interesting to see so many "experts" in similar fields of expertise, and yet so many "experts" do not draw the same conclusions.

Kind of reminds me of those psychological "experts" at murder trials. The defense and the prosecution both get someone that is renouned and respected in their field as an "expert."

One "expert" claims the defendant was insane at the time of the crime. The other "expert" claims that the defendant was not insane at the time of the crime.

If they are both "experts" in their field, then why don't they draw the same conclusions?

Y2K is like that, there is a lot of validity to the frightening prospect of imminent social and economic collapse, just beyond the horizon, but there is also as much validity to the prospect that the alarmists are overplaying the entire situation. Who do you believe?

Marc, Who to believe is really the problem. In the end you go with your own feeling on the subject knowing full well that you may be wrong, wrong, wrong. I hope I am.

"Who do you believe?"

Marc, have you read Paula Gordon's essay on "common sense"?

If not, I suggest you do, especially if you think of Koskinen as an "expert". (He's the Y2K crisis leader after all.)

Don't "believe" Marc, trust your common sense.

Paula Gordon's White Paper #6 on common sense

Think on this one: as reported a few days ago, PM Tony Blair--Clinton's best bud--is presently learning how to send an email, having joined an adult ed. class on internet use. Last month his big 'e-complishment' was to order flowers for his wife online.

Out of touch? You betcha.

This is my personal favorite:

"Karl Feilder

(November 1999): The media doesn't understand. The Germans are disinterested. The SMEs think it's a mainframe issue and they haven't got one of those. The governments are all in spin control. I'm tired."
