For all those out there who voted NO

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

I heard this on the radio and thought it was a good idea:

"If all of you out there who voted NO on 695 are so scared about cuts, when you renew your tabs next time, pay the full amount just like this year and not the $30. This way you're sending your message to the state that you don't want cuts, and that you don't care where your tax money is going."

I also heard that the Gov. has a Ford Expedition in the parking structure that never moves, the city of Seattle paid $27,000 for some trash cans, and there's of course all that money the DOT spent on signs for buses when they weren't supposed to, but did anyway.

We've lived to see another day! Don't waste it and don't let it pass you by!

I was fully supportive of I-695, because I felt that it was an income tax in licensing tax clothing that had the potential to punish the wrong people. But I am not deluding myself that the state doesn't need the money. They do, and I hope they find a new and more equitable way to get that money. They have a surplus and while a little is good, I think they need to put that money into play and find a better way of taxing us to get what is necessary for this state to run and improve itself. I think i-695 laid down some ground rules and let them know that the way they find to tax us is fair or we will come right back the next year and let them know. They will get around I-695 somehow....but I think it was more important that they know that we can get something like this to pass.....so they better be a little bit sharper than before....

They're going to have to budget-it's pure and simple. Remember when Citizens were afraid that the fed income tax would actually go up to "1" full percent? Hmmmmmmmmm. But that was before we needed important things like, Tsitsi (spelling?) fly sex habit studies, etc...etc....etc....etc....etc.................

Tsetse- an important vector for African trympanosomiasis, not a HUGE threat in the Northwest.

Youre wrong when you write, But I am not deluding myself that the state doesn't need the money. They do, and I hope they find a new and more equitable way to get that money.

The state does not need the money. What they need to do now and should have been doing all along is using the money they forced us to give them, wisely.

Second, I hope they got the message last night and will leave our money alone. They do not need to find another place to get the money from; they need to use what they have responsibly.

Next you write, find a better way of taxing us to get what is necessary for this state to run and improve itself.

Theyve had their chances to find better ways of taxing us thats how we ended up with the MVET mess to start with. And this state would improve immediately if the pols would stay home more. Because the more they are in Olympia or D.C., the more theyre gonna screw us. They cant help it, theyre addicted to spending our money and passing inane laws that we have to live with.

Finally, the major part of I-695 is that the pols cant raise anymore taxes or fees without we the people voting for it. If it is worthwhile then it may pass. Then again it may not. Im counting on the later.

Ed already have another job lined up if I lose this one.
