I lost my job because of I-695!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Naww!

But I would like to see some posts from people who DID lose their job directly because of I-695 passing. To qualify to post here, you must have lost a full-time job that you do day in and day out. No contract jobs, no temps either. Also no jobs that are funded by projects, programs, or any other "temp-type" job. Only real, day by day, working at a real job, job.

Don't forget to let us know EXACTLY what your job was, and your duties and responsiblities and of course how often you actually did those duties instead of surfing the web.

All hail the power of the people!

WHY NOT PART TIME EMPLOYMENT DONE ON A DAY TO DAY. SOME PEOPLE RELAY ON TWO INCOMES TO LIVE

-- MIKE (TAZTAZBEST@YAHOO.COM), November 03, 1999.

My neighbor works for Kitsap Transit and sent out 84 layoff notices before Nov. 1, giving his people 60 days notice in the event I-695 passed. 41 of those people are bus drivers and their routes will be cut Jan. 1, 2000. Weekend service will be severely cut back and commuter trips to the ferries will suffer. My commute to Seattle will take longer than the present 1-1/2 hours it now takes. I look forward to those longer commutes, sitting in traffic and fewer services in my community.

The short-sightedness of the Yes on I-695 group is pathethic commentary for a state that is supposed to be progressive and has the smallest tax burden of any of the 17 states west of the Rockies even before I-695. If Tim Eyman had to travel more than 20 feet from his house to garage for work, he may have been adversely affected by this measure and would have thought twice about his smug support. I hope the lawyers for the state don't take too much time and $ to overturn this in court.

Don, Maybe you should write your local politician and ask them to do something about your SPECIFIC problem. Or better yet stop whining and take some initiative (like Tim did) and just maybe you could bring about some real change rather than just whining. Are you could stop and think for maybe about half a second and ask your self why are the pol's already cutting services that have such a huge alleged impact on people such as your self. Do you really think that there aren't other areas, programs, & services that they could cut that would have less impact and less shock and scare value?

Ah yes, Kitsap transit, where users paid a whole 11% of the operating (and 3% of the capital) costs (source:http://www.ntdprogram.com/NTD/Profiles.nsf/1997+Less+Than+2000 00/0020/$File/P0020.PDF). Now let me get the rest of this straight. AM I ALSO PAYING FOR FERRIES SO YOU CAN CHOOSE TO LIVE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF PUGET SOUND FROM WHERE YOU WORK? Now look, Don, I really don't care if you want to commute to Seattle from Zanzibar, if you are willing to put up with the time and cost. BUT YOU'RE CRAZY IF YOU EXPECT ME TO SUBSIDIZE YOUR VOLUNTARY CHOICE TO LIVE AN HOUR AND A HALF FROM WHERE YOU WORK. Why don't you MOVE to Seattle? In-fill development is part of their DumbGrowth plan, and you are obviously more attuned to the political attitudes of King County residents (where I-695 won) than you are with those of Kitsap residents (where it lost heavily).

I look forward to the day I see less busses runing around at the wrong place at the wrong time with nobody aboard.

Don The Cry-Bady Lawson

My neighbor works for Kitsap Transit and sent out 84 layoff notices

Is your neighbor going to lose his job? Or is he management and too important to be laid off?

Continuing with your dribble and sent out 84 layoff notices before Nov. 1, giving his people 60 days notice in the event I-695 passed

Definitely management! How much notice did your friend get. Or is he keeping his job?

Did the people that got these notices do anything about it. Like find another job? Or did they sit on their well-padded butts crying about it? When I was told last week that my position may be cut, I went out and found another job that night. Are your friends too lazy or were they thinking the state would take care of them?

Weekend service will be severely cut back and commuter trips to the ferries will suffer.

First and Last : I dont use them and I dont care if they scuttle every last one of them . However if you do use the ferry, then you should pay the true cost of operating it.

a state that is supposed to be progressive

Thats one of the problems with this state. I dont a progressive state, I dont want to fund a Gay/Lesbian coalition, or $7 million elevator. If you do, call the Gov and tell him. Just make sure you send along a check so he will take a second to listen to you.

smallest tax burden of any of the 17 states west of the Rockies

You should take a course in Geography . The states west of the Rockies and even bordering Colorado are; Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.

So by my count that comes to 13. So unless you are including Canadian Providences. youre an idiot and a liar. My commute to Seattle will take longer than the present 1- 1/2 hours it now takes. I look forward to those longer commutes, sitting in traffic and fewer services in my community

Don, Ive been told many a time on this message board that if I drive a vehicle in this state that cost me $800 a year in tabs, it was my own fault, as I should have known the cost when I bought it. Know what, you should have known that by living where you do, you would have long commutes to work. So tough. Either live with it, or move. I dont really care how long it takes you to drive to Seattle, I dont live or work there and never will. You must like it or you would have left by now.

It takes me 10 15 minutes to get to work every day. Thats when the sun shines and when there is a foot of snow on the ground. So I think youre pathetic one.

If Tim Eyman had to travel more than 20 feet from his house to garage for work

Tim obviously knows something you dont. Plus I thought you liberals wanted us all to work from our houses to cut down on pollution and traffic jams?

I hope the lawyers for the state don't take too much time and $ to overturn this in court.

The lawyers for the state i.e. the Attorney General has to defend I- 695. Apparently you need a class in government too.

The short-sightedness of the Yes on I-695 group is pathetic commentary for a state

No Don, you and the rest of your kind are the pathetic and shortsighted ones. You thought you could continue to waste our money and tax us into submission. We woke up. When will you?

P.S. why dont you quit your bellyaching. Youve shouted your lies and names threw away $2 million and still lost.

Ed after I finish my 2nd job tonight, Ill light up a LGC Wavell maduro.
