It's about time the politicians started being held responsible for what they do with our money and when they can and can't get more of it. Granted the powers that be will fight very hard to overturn the decision if I-695 passes, but the people have spoken!! It is time to take the power back!

ANY QUESTIONS?

I voted NO. WA has no state income tax. We are getting a deal paying for road improvements, EMS service, public transit, et. al. with our MVET instead of having money taken out of every paycheck for those things. Better yet, if you don't own a car, you don't pay for those things! What a deal! The fact is that on vehicles over 6 years old, the average savings if 695 were to pass would probably be less than $100 per car. I also try to do my part in alleviating the traffic problem by taking public transit to work every day. If 695 results in service cuts to my bus route (and those of everyone else coming and going on my bus) - then hey, welcome us with open arms as we merge onto the freeways with you all! Just out of curiosity - how many of you PRO-695ers in King County voted for the RTA bill? Was a $30 fee enough to overturn your decision to vote for the RTA bill? Or are your RTA support checks in the mail on their way to Olympia? And as a volunteer firefighter, I will be happy to respond to calls for emergency medical services so long as our fire station is able to remain open, which would be unlikely in many rural counties. Oh yeah, but I forgot that we have the state surplus, which can only be used fully with a 2/3 majority approval from the house AND senate (which happen to be a 50/50 mix of DEM-REP in WA).

Yes I voted YES. But it didn't feel good. Our constitution reserves the power of the initiative to the people so we can have a process to step in when our elected representative fail to hear us. I'm not happy living in a state when our politicians are so inept that they allow taxation to get so bad that the people have to step in with limits. I wish that our politicians would have been capable of hearing us and crafting an alternative to place on the ballot alongside of I-695. But they were not and are not. That is why we have to pass I-695 - if we let them off the hook they don't know how to fix the problem. They don't even recognize the problem. Sigh!

We who understand the situation are going to have to help our own elected representatives reallocate spending to ensure that the very important services and projects the MVET funded are continued. The only process they are familiar with it called coercion.

If it passes, I-695 is going to be a lesson for our politicians about funding important local programs with a statewide tax that is unfair, too high, and despised by the public. The local public health clinic should never have been funded by anything but fair and reasonable local taxes. The MVET was a fat cash cow, milked for more and more each year as more vehicles were licensed and vehicles MSRP went up.

Some of us are tired of being the milkee, but the politicians never tire of being the milkor. They have not heard us. But they can't ignore I-695. It is our only hope for a bright future.

Yes, I voted yes. The Boston Tea Party probably wasn't a lot of fun either - but needed to happen!

That's because politicians need your tax dollars in order to fund programs to cater to special interests groups and cater to their own politican interests as well. That's why so many politicians are reluctant to give tax breaks. It's not because the government can't afford to give you a tax break, it's because they need your money to fund programs to serve special interests so that those at the top can get reelected. Let's stop this and not let them do that.

By the way, I'm sick and tired of hearing newspaper articles that say that the supporters of I695 are ignorant and greedy. What about the ignorance and greed of the government? Why isn't that mentioned in the newspapers???????? Duh!
